THEODORE `TED’ KOHLMETZ

THEODORE ‘TED’ KOHLMETZ 22 Nov 1937 22 Jun 2024 After a life full of stories, love, and laughter (with a few trials thrown in), Ted Kohlmetz passed peacefully into the Great Beyond at the age of 86.
He leaves behind his daughter, Tina ‘Yushie’ Kohls; sister, Crystal ‘Sadie’ Foster; his granddaughters, Tasha ‘Munchkin’ (Daniel) Johnson and Serena ‘Tutsie’ (Michael) Lux; and too many good friends to name. He goes to join those who have passed before him: his beloved parents; son, Diggy; and the love of his life, Yopie.
He was a man of many talents writer, artist, gardener, and runner to name a few and he could often be seen around town going for one of his long walks, often stopping to smell the flowers and singing as he went. As was his way, he would be wearing his iconic denim shorts, even in the deep winter snows. He left his mark on our memories and a hole in our lives that can only be filled by the love that we still feel for him.
You will always be our Dad, Opa, Mr. Ted, Didi, Trail Pappy, Al Terego, and Schatz. We know you are with us still, watching over us as those Guardian Angels watched over you.
In his own words:
“I came, I saw, I failed to conquer but still I came. I always wanted to be totally different, and I succeeded. Now I cross the Rubicon one last time. I go, not raging against the dying of the light, but welcoming it. Resting pen, I shall arise”
Memorial Coffee will be held at the Elks Lodge on Sunday, June 30th from 2-4 pm. All are welcome. Condolences may be made at http://www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by

THELMA SCHNEIDER

THELMA SCHNEIDER 1938 – 2024 Thelma Vivien Schneider of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Vernon Schneider, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Thelma was born on April 14, 1938, to Adolph and Susanna Stahl. Thelma loved growing up on their farm at Richmound, Saskatchewan with her older brother, Marvin. She repeatedly said that she would never trade her childhood or this family that she adored. On October 29, 1958, Thelma married Vern and they spent 52 happy years together. They had their own family of four following the births of their sons, Dean and Todd. Thelma was an extraordinary homemaker. As the boys grew older, she started at Farm Credit Corporation as an Administrative Assistant. She was employed there for 23 years. Thelma loved her motorhome, camping trips with Vern, especially when accompanied by family and friends. She loved big family dinners and being out at her son’s ranch. She had a strong faith and loved being involved in her church. She admired bright colours and interesting patterns. Thelma served selflessly, baked delicious buns, and had an incredible sense of humour. She enjoyed simple pleasures like the open prairie, full moons, long walks, ice cream, and all things that involved being together as a family. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Thelma will be dearly missed by her sons, Dean and Todd (Laurie); grandchildren Leah (Tommy Debakker), Brenda (Cory Ror), Kayla and Victoria; great grandchildren Adrianna and Nathan; sisters-in-law Loreen Wright and Ivy Stahl as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma’s family would like to thank Medicine Hat Care Community and St. Joseph’s Home for the wonderful care they provided. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Grant Crichton officiating. The service will be live streamed. Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit victorylutheran.ca/livestream. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
