ANGELO SOGOS

1953 ~ ANGELO SOGOS ~ 2024 Angelo Sogos returned home on May 9, 2024, after a long stay here on Earth for over 70 years! He will truly live on in the heart of everyone who knew him as he had so much to give in the form of knowledge, wisdom, and love! His passion for science, music, and politics kept him going even when it seemed like the world was going to end. This man changed the world; we just don’t know it yet! A ‘jack of all trades’, a man who wore many different hats. He was our rock star! A true friend. He will be truly missed but never missing because he helped us to grow, that was his purpose. Whether it’s trying a new recipe, renovating your house, or playing your favourite song, he will be there! Ciao, and thank you, my friend. KENNETH “DALE” MACKAY

KENNETH “DALE” MACKAY August 29th, 1930 May 21st, 2024 The family of Kenneth (Dale) Mackay unfortunately and with profound sadness announce his passing at the age of 93, just 29 days after his beloved wife of 74 years, Virginia Mackay.
Dale was predeceased by his son, Colin; granddaughter, Marceya; daughter, Teresa; as well as his brother, two sisters and parents (George and Margaret Mackay)
Dale worked for the Northwest Nitro Chemical Plant then got his dream job with the town of Redcliff. He was a Forman for many years until retirement and did it with so much pride.
Dale was a very kind, gentle soul. He always showed his 7 children, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren that he absolutely loved us just by smiling and being goofy. He sure knew how to have fun. If there was a toddler or baby around, he was making faces at them so they would make faces back or just smile at him.
Virginia and Dale are together for all eternity. Their family will be forever grateful for their love story together. They were our inspiration to find a love like theirs.
The nurses, Francis and Rachel at MHRH on 5 west were in awe of how gentle he was. Our family would like to thank them for their compassion for him and his family for those brief 3 days he was not well in the hospital. We would like to thank Dr. Scholtz and Grace Memorial for all you’ve done for both of them in the last month.
Dale will be missed more than he would’ve ever realized.
No formal service will be held. Condolences may be made at http://www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by

LOIS LOUISE CLARKSON September 18, 1932 May 19, 2024
Lois Clarkson of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in palliative care at St. Joseph’s home.
Mom’s memory will always be cherished by her daughter, Dawn Cote; son, Kevin (Jeannette) Clarkson; son, Blair Clarkson (Sharon Perry), daughter, Marcia Clarkson; sister, Lucile (Wally) Novak; sister, Marlene Lemon; sister-in-law, Loretta Lemon; and Aunt Doreen (Jack) Pickett. She is also survived by her grandchildren , Tracy (Graham) Cowley, Challa (Vance) Crouse, Lee (Carla) Clarkson, Jillian Clarkson (Tyler Gabrysh) and Alex Winters (Tedd Huckabay); as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Lois was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Clarkson; parents, James and Evelyn Lemon; in-laws, Lee and Clara Clarkson; brother, Larrie Lemon; brother and sister-in-law, Merlin and Shirley Lemon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Cal McKeag; son-in-law and grandson, Lyle and Darryl Cote; and great granddaughter, Kressley Clarkson.
Mom was born at home in Mair, SK on September 18, 1932, the oldest of five children. She started her schooling at Grangehurst where her father, James , had his schooling. Her father was a grain buyer with Searle Elevators and transferred to Fairlight, SK in July 1940. Then to Glenavon, SK in July 1941, and in August 1942, he transferred again to Willmar, SK.
Lois and Ralph Clarkson were married on February 10, 1951, in Arcola, SK. Mom and Dad resided in Willmar for many happy years where they ran a general store. Dad wore several hats including school bus driver, postmaster, and a bulk fuel delivery dealer. In 1976 they closed their business in Willmar when Dad took the Postmaster position in Manor, SK, and in 1983 he took the postmaster’s job in Redvers, SK. In 1988, Dad retired, and he and mom moved to Carlyle, SK. During their time in Manor, Mom worked at the Moose Mountain Nursing Home in Carlyle, and after moving to Carlyle, she worked part time as a security guard at the RCMP station. In 2002, they moved to Regina, SK, and then to Medicine Hat, AB, in 2005. In 2007, they moved into the Valleyview Care Centre in Medicine Hat.
Mom was always active in the community including Fall suppers, church events, bonspiels, and whist parties. She liked golfing, loved music, and was a very good dancer. And we all have special memories of the many years we shared at our cottage at White Bear Lake. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery. In her later years, she loved to read, play games on her computer, do crossword and other word puzzles, read the newspaper every morning, and was an avid fan of curling. We all avoided calling or stopping in to visit when a curling game was on!
She was always gracious, kind, and loving, and a friend to all she met. She might express some displeasure if we did something she didn’t approve of, but she never spoke harshly of anyone. She was always our light to guide us and taught us to treat others with respect, to care for others, and to walk humbly through life. Mom didn’t loudly voice any religious claims but the way she lived her life and her everyday actions loudly proclaimed what she believed. She loved her family, and they were always on her mind and in her heart. We loved her dearly and will always miss her. Thank you, Mom.
According to Mom’s wishes, a gathering of family at her graveside will be held at a later date, where her ashes will be interred with Dad in the cemetery in Arcola, SK. Condolences may be sent to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Lois Clarkson. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to

EVELYN DORIS SCHLACHTER

EVELYN DORIS SCHLACHTER
EVELYN DORIS SCHLACHTER of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late James (Jim) Schlachter, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital surrounded by family on Monday May 20, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

Evelyn is survived by her loving family; Sons: Rodney (Linda), Daniel (Janet), Blair (Susan) and Shannon; Grandchildren: James, Lindsey (Kevin), Christopher, Megan (Justin), Kimberly (Derek), Katie, Cody (Amanda) and Carlena (Aaron); as well as eleven great grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by her Sisters-in-law: Marianne Renyk, Angelina Schlachter, Lenora (Richard) Flynn, Marlene (Ronald) MacDonald and one Brother-in-law: Wayne Schlachter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great friends.

Evelyn was born the youngest of six children on July 3, 1933, on the family farm to Jesse and Eva Preskey. Her heart found a match in Jim Schlachter, and they were married on May 3, 1956. Together they raised five children and purchased a farm in the Conquerville area. Jim and Evelyn were kept busy by the activities of their children; volunteering and being active in the community and building their farm. Tragically, Jim and their only daughter, Carla were taken in an automobile accident in the Fall of 1979. With grit and determination, Evelyn stayed on the farm helping her sons farm the land. In spring of 1982, Evelyn sold the farm and moved into Medicine Hat. It was here where she developed many great friendships with neighbors and others she met.

Being a Mother and Grandmother brought her the greatest of joys. Her Grandchildren treasure the many memories they have in playing board and card games with her, her delicious home cooked holiday meals and the many sleep overs and family times spent within her home.

Evelyn enjoyed her hobbies of crocheting, gardening, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was the head of our family, truly our rock, always encouraging everyone to stick together. With her loving guidance and teachings in the value of hardwork, love of family, loyalty, and friendship, she will be deeply missed.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved Husband, Jim, only Daughter Carla, Parents, Jesse and Eva, Siblings: Erma (Simon) Weiler, Edith (Fritz) Rossol, Charles (Anne) Preskey, Adaline (Peter) Headsworth, Alice (Ralph) Brittner. Father and Mother-in-law: Jacob and Katherine Schlachter, Brothers-in-law: Timothy Schlachter and his wife Lenora Schlachter and Robert Renyk and nephews Bradley MacDonald and Clark Marcolin.

On behalf of the Schlachter Family, a special thank you to all of the Havenview South Country Village staff for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to our Mother, and the care and compassion from the Palliative care team at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating.
