WANDA LANE

WANDA LANE September 25, 1957 ~ May 7, 2024
It is with broken hearts that the family announce the peaceful passing of Wanda Emile Lane on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 66 years. Wanda was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on September 25, 1957, to Emil Gehring and Mary Ann Haas. One of four sisters, the family moved to Medicine Hat when Wanda was around 11 years old where they had a small motel. The girls participated in learning the ins and out of the business which created a very strong work ethic in Wanda. After leaving high school, she went on to marry Roger Gagnon and together they had two beautiful children, Justin Daniel and Jenna Rae Ann. Years later, Wanda would go on to meet the love of her life, Fred Palmer, who would blend their families introducing Chad and Amber as her step-children. Together Wanda and Fred spent 15 years building the life of her dreams, working hard on their little farm and teaching their children the same work ethic that they reflected, until a tragic medical event would claim Fred’s life. Wanda moved back to the city and pursued her career in book keeping until meeting Terry Lane, to whom she would be married from 2012 through 2021. Throughout her life, Wanda was known for the endless love and dedication that she showed to her children, and those closest to her. She had the opportunity to create amazing memories with her grandchildren: Lincoln, Mason, Bentley, Katie, and Khloe, and extend her love towards her step-grandchildren, Trinity, Jaiden, Rylan, Sophie, Savanna and Scarlett. These grand- children were the center of her world, and she enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time in hotels, on farms, and over holidays with all of them. A service of committal will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Roque Pereira officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W. between 10:30 a.m and 10:45 a.m. A time of fellowship will follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. PETER BUTLER

PETER BUTLER 1941 – 2024 It is with extreme sadness that we must announce that Peter has passed away peacefully though unexpectedly, Sunday morning, May 5, 2024.
Cherishing the time we had together and memories are myself, Mary and his only son Paul.
Peter’s passion for numbers created a career starting out in England and the Bahamas as an accountant and after moving his family to Calgary, it was the investment industry. His first passion was sport – Arsenal soccer and statistics, and rugby. In retirement he studied languages such as Old English, German, and several European languages.
He was an accomplished runner. His medals include the Boston Marathon two times, numerous other marathons including the 100 and 50 km ultra marathons from Seattle to London, England. He was a rugby referee and a coach, as well as kayaker. He practiced a life of exercise every day, preferably outside, preferably in a bush, and it had to be challenging. Peter never went on a road trip without a tent and a couple sleeping bags just in case there was an opportunity to use them!
For Paul and I, he was our support for whatever situations we encountered together.
The funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (504 – 2nd Street S.E.) on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. R. (Bob) Cruickshank officiating. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
