LEONARD JAMES “JIM” REICH January 28, 1940 March 21, 2024
Leonard James “Jim” Reich passed on peacefully in his home in Leduc County on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 84.
Jim is survived by his wife Bev, children; Richard Reich, Lisa Reich, (mother, Inge van Montfort of Medicine Hat) Leanne Guenther (Martin Guenther), and Brett Powlesland (Carla Hunter); grandchildren, Emelie Guenther, Kayla Guenther, Nicolas Hanson, Taelynn Powlesland, Danika Powlesland, and Gage Powlesland; siblings, Marie Tschritter, Genevieve Exley, Allan Hneeda, and Linda Gray. Jim was predeceased by his parents Leo and Dorothy Reich.
Jim was born on January 28th, 1940 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from NAIT in 1973 with a diploma in Respiratory Therapy. Prior to starting his career in Respiratory Therapy, Jim spent several years working on the railroad in Medicine Hat.
As a Respiratory therapist he worked in in the Medicine Hat Hospital and several in Edmonton, Alberta in the ICU and operating rooms. Jim married Bev Reich in 1983 and he became a loving stepfather to his children, Leanne and Brett. Jim’s wife and children remember him as a husband and father who was kind, gentle, patient and loving. He was passionate about his family as well woodworking, crafting, and Dragons. He was a generous, incredibly witty, dedicated individual for whom family was everything.
Jim will be forever missed by all who love him.
There will be no funeral service, just a small private family gathering.

1950 ~ DON SULLIVAN ~ 2024 It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my husband of 50 years, Don Sullivan. After surviving one cancer, he lost the fight to another on March 31, 2024. He leaves to cherish our memories his wife, Janine; daughter, Sharna; granddaughter, Katie; sister, Norma Kay as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends made during his work life who knew him as “Sully”. Don was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Lily; brother, George “Greg” and sister, Sandra (Larry). 1925 ~ GEORGE HOPE ~ 2024
George Wayne Hope, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on April 1st, 2024. Born on July 22, 1925, in Wayne, Alberta, to Jack and Mary Hope, he spent his childhood in the picturesque town of Redcliff, Alberta.
George started riding horse at the age of six where he found his love for equestrianism. In 1942, George bravely answered the call of duty and joined the military to serve his country during World War II. After the war, he returned home and married the love of his life, Ruth Irene Lee, on May 17, 1957. Together, they raised four children: Sandy (Lorne), Dwain (Jacquie), Lauren (Mervin), and Brent, who survive him. George was also blessed with nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three siblings and one grandson.
Throughout his life, George was known for his unwavering dedication to his community. He volunteered tirelessly, particularly at Branch No. 6 Redcliff Legion, where his contributions left a lasting impact. After the war, he started his career as a bricklayer, which supported his dream of ranching. As a rancher, he poured his heart and soul into his livestock, finding solace and joy in the beauty of nature. He raised Ponies of America and loved his horses, sharing them with community kids so they could experience the joy of riding.
George will be remembered fondly as an amazing father, a devoted husband, a loving grandfather, and a good friend. His legacy of service, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds, 2055 – 21st Avenue SE Medicine Hat, AB, on Monday, April 8th, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm, before the Funeral Service. The Funeral Service will be held at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds on Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 1:30 pm with Dr. David J. Carter officiating. The Interment will follow at the Redcliff Cemetery. If unable to attend, family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to

STAN SCHNEIDER 1947 ~ 2024 Stanley Douglas Schneider passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 77 years. Stan is survived by his siblings, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Brown and Gordon Brian Schneider; children, Michael McNaught and Kyla McNaught as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. PATRICIA MCDOWELL September 13, 1952 ~ March 28, 2024 The family of Patricia Gail McDowell, beloved wife of Dennis ‘Mick’ McDowell of Foremost, announces her passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the age of 71 years. Patricia was born on September 13, 1952, in Wainwright, Alberta a daughter to proud parents, Mitchell and Dolly McCagherty. Pat was raised in Wainwright where she also received her schooling and met and married Dennis ‘Mick’ on December 20, 1969. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Pamela and Dean. Pat and Mick moved to Manyberries in 1996, where they formed a trucking company. Pat worked alongside Mick and looked after the administration side of the business. In 2006, they moved to Foremost and continued with the business until 2011. Those who knew Pat, knew she was a straight shooter and would tell it like it is and as such, she was well liked and well respected. Pat was a people person and really enjoyed to socialize whether it was with her lake friends or golfing buddies; who will miss her dearly. She knew her way around the kitchen and enjoyed to cook for all occasions… especially the holidays! Pat was a big presence and will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family including her husband, Dennis ‘Mick’; daughter, Pamela and her children, Carson and Sean; son, Dean and his children, Indica and Zane and one great-grandson, Jackson; a brother, Larry (Linda) McCagherty; very close friends, Alvin and Fay Sand as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Mitchell McCagherty, her mother, Dolly Leitheiser and step-father, Ray Leitheiser and a brother, Art McCagherty and his wife, Diane. Dignified cremation has taken place and a graveside celebration will be held in the coming months in Wainwright, Alberta. ARNOLD WILLIAM KUYSTERMANS August 16th, 1961 March 12th, 2024
Arnold William Kuystermans passed away, surrounded by loving family, on March12, 2024 at the age of 62. Arnold was born to William and Martha Kuystermans on August 16,1961, along with his twin brother Alex, in Eastend, Saskatchewan.
Arnold grew up in Eastend in a full household of 8 brothers and one sister. He attended school in Eastend, graduating in 1979. Arnold was a lifelong learner early on he attended Lethbridge Community College, where he studied automotive; and Medicine Hat College, where he studied, apprenticed and got his red seal autobody journeyman credentials. Then later he attended Medicine Hat College for 4th class power engineering. Arn also worked hard and balanced family life to study in Calgary to get his real estate license.
Arnold has lived and worked predominately in the Medicine Hat area most of his adult life. He was a hard worker and was willing to take on a challenge when he worked at the bean plant right out of school, he would sling around sacks of beans that were almost as heavy as he was. He worked as a labourer, carpenter, an autobody man, and for many years, as a respected realtor in the city of Medicine Hat.
Arn could fix anything!! And could be counted on to lend a hand to anyone that needed help and was always full of life and laughter. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. In his usual sharing way, he shared this passion with Denver, Marshall and Jordyn, family and friends. You could often find Arnold at the Forks or other interesting spot fishing and camping with his family and/or his brothers.
Arn and Yo enjoyed entertaining and were the ultimate hosts. No little detail overlooked Arn would even wash your car or change your oil when you went to visit.
Arnold married the love of his life, Yolande Lemire on June 24,1989 and together they had 3 children. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Yo, 2 sons, Denver and Marshall (Barby), one daughter, Jordyn (Daniel), and 2 grandchildren – Jake and a brand-new granddaughter, Aurora, born the day before he passed. Also left to cherish memories of a their dear brother are Neil (Lana), Jack (Sherry), Alex (Penny), Bill, Michael (Sharon) and one sister Mary Lemire (Bob).Yolande’s sisters and brothers also share their grief in his passing – Bob Lemire (Mary), Bernie (Karen) Lemire, Roberta (Roy) Wheeler, Corrinne (Ken) Hassett, Marc (Jackie) Lemire, Jeff Hyam, Bernice Lemire, Rochelle (Charlie) Christie, and his mother in law, Marguerite Lemire. Uncle Arn (one of the favourite uncles) will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, including the hybrid/double ups. Also left to mourn Arnold are numerous cousins in the Netherlands.
Arnold was predeceased by his brother Peter in 1968, his father, William in 2004, his mother Martha in 2006 and his brother Stephen in 2016. On the Lemire side, he was predeceased by his father in law, Robert Lemire in 1995, his sister in law Cathy Hyam in 2010, and brother in law Denis Lemire in 2014.
At Arnold’s request, there will be a Celebration of Life on April 20th, 2024, at Hampton Inn & Suites, 2510 Box Springs Blvd NW. 1:30-3:00. Lunch will be served at the Heritage Pavilion in Strathcona Park, 1402 5th street SE @ 4:00

MADELINE RAWLEIGH 1929 ~ 2024 Mrs. Madeline Viola Rawleigh of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at the age of 94 years. Madeline leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joan Russell, Wayne (Wendy). Gordon (LeahAnn) and Dale “Tex”; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey (Howard) Muhlbeier and Agnes Lynch; sisters-in-law, Diane Hanson and Ellen Rawleigh as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by her husband, William; infant son, James; son-in-law, Garry Russell; parents, Hans and Edith Hanson; brothers, Jim (Val) Hanson, Roy Hanson; sister, Ella (Stan) Durbeniuk; Williams family, Jesse and Lela Rawleigh, Margaret (Allan) Sibbald, Ralph Rawleigh, David (Elsie) Rawleigh and Stella Rawleigh. Madeline was born September 25, 1929 in Medicine Hat and was raised in the Alderson and Tilley area. She attended school in Tilley and Medicine Hat. Madeline and William were married on September 13, 1951 in Brooks. Madeline enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and watching baseball and hockey on the television. Mom and dad retired in Medicine Hat after 37 years of dad working as a grain buyer. Mom will be deeply missed by her family.
