BONORAADOLINE(ADDY)BONORA,BELOV

BONORA
Adoline (Addy) Bonora, beloved wife of Mario of Brooks, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Medicine Hat to Bertha and Ewald Link on June 10, 1934. Addy married her best friend, Mario in 1990 and she said she had her best life for the last 33 years. Addy is survived by her loving husband Mario, her children Sandra Stolz (Malcom), Blair Stolz, Jim (Karen), Doris (Lorne), Ron (Pam) and Lisa Smith (Carl) and her grandchildren Ashley (Timm), Byron, Vanessa, Eric (Rachel), Carson (Aubrey), Rachelle (Evyn), John (Maria) and Mia (deceased). Addy enjoyed having her family close by and the get-togethers that were held throughout the year. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren as they grew up with Nonno and Nana. She loved the winters that she and Mario spent in California. She and Mario would often be heard making bets on who would have the best golf score. The betting was never serious, as later that evening the two of them would have a waltz around the kitchen. Spending time with Mario, watching the hummingbirds, doing the Christmas puzzle along with picking the lemons and grapefruits that grew on trees in their yard and many, many happy hours with great friends gave her such enjoyment. Addy was both a great listener and a great story teller and an amazing friend to everyone lucky enough to be in her circle. Addy was gifted with a great talent for the arts. She could sit down at a piano, play a song by ear and sing with her beautiful voice. As she entered retirement, card making and pottery became her new passions. She won several medals at the Alberta Senior Games for her creative pottery designs. Addy also knit over 500 unique teddy bears to donate to underprivileged children in Mexico. The family would like to thank Dr. Elgersma and Dr. Visser of Brooks and Dr. Kryski of Calgary for the excellent care they provided to Addy throughout the years. The family is forever grateful for the time and commitment that Lisa Smith provided to Addy as a chauffeur and third set of ears at doctors’ appointments and just being there for Addy and Mario through illnesses and surgeries but also so many fun times. We know that Addy is in a better place, free from pain knowing someday that she will reunite with her little buddy, Mario, for another dance to their favorite song….’Saying Something Stupid Like I Love You’. Funeral Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks, Alberta (811 Cassils Road W) on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Rev. John Theiss officiating. MYRA LINK

MYRA LINK 1937~ 2023 It is with great sadness that the family of Myra Arline Link announces her passing on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Myra was born on September 19, 1937 to Phil & Regina Baker. Myra is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Victor, son Terry (Dorothy), son Richard (David Moloney), and son-in-law Trevor James; she very sadly had to say good bye to her daughter Jennifer James in August of this year.
Myra was born and raised in Medicine Hat and lived her life in the city. She grew up in the “flats”, and loved hanging out with her cousins, and the kids on fourth street and surrounding blocks. This is where she met her best friend Melinda Link (now Melinda Price) and Melinda’s brother Vic, whom she married.
Myra was a cheerleader in high school and was Medicine Hat Teen Queen. She also worked as a court reporter in the early 60s and once her children were grown, she returned to work at the Medicine Hat College in the Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts departments. Her incredibly organized nature was of great help to the artists, students, and instructors who shared her passions.
She always took pride in her appearance, whether it was a new hair style or an outfit in the latest fashion.
Her great passion was art: literature, music, and the visual arts. She’d always have the maximum number of books on reserve at the library, and she was instrumental in getting many best sellers into the Medicine Hat Library system. Myra had an encyclopedic memory of all the authors she had ever read, and could easily tell you all the books she’d read by a particular author.
While her contemporaries were listening to rock ‘n’ roll, she and her cousin Ken were dedicated jazzophiles, spending many afternoons listening to their favourite artists. She felt privileged to see many of them live, including Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Cleo Lane, Stan Getz, Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand and Diana Krall. Have a listen to our playlist for Myra https://tinyurl.com/playlistforMyra.
Her and Vic’s house was filled with books, records, and beautiful artwork including photos by Ansel Adams; prints by Picasso, the Group of Seven, and Ettore DeGrazi; and drawings by her favourite local artist, Jim Marshall.
She and Vic travelled to Mexico and Europe for Oldtimers’ Hockey tournaments, and to London to visit Jennifer and Trevor. Stories about her trip to New York with Melinda, and to Los Angeles to see Barbra Streisand, were among her favourite reminiscences. Myra and Vic spent many winters in Arizona and they also enjoyed time at the family’s summer cabin at Lake Newell.
Due to mobility issues, Myra spent her last few years at Cypress View and most recently River Ridge Senior Village, where she knew everyone’s names, and was grateful for the care she received.
As per Myra’s request, there will not be a formal service. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to remember Myra, a donation to the Medicine Hat Library would be appropriate. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
