GERHARD EBERHARDT

1931 ~ GERHARD EBERHARDT ~ 2023
Gerhard Eberhardt, beloved father, Opa, and brother, passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 91 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, son, Robert (Dianne) Eberhardt, and their family, Katrina (Jesse) and Erika (Riley); daughter, Linda (Raymond) Moreau, and their family, Thomas; Krista (Kirk) Aiden and Ava; Amanda (Adam) Brady and Lexi; Chantel (Dale) Nathan and Tyler; and son, Ken (Yvonne) Eberhardt, and their family, Christopher (Alexandra) Isabelle and Isaac; and Elizabeth. Also left to cherish his memory are Gerhard’s brother, Albert (Stefanie) Eberhardt; sisters, Elvire Necker and Wallie (Ted) Ganden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerhard was predeceased by his wife, Regina, and parents, Otto and Hulda Eberhardt.
Gerhard was born on December 11, 1931 in Sofiewka, Bessarabia. At the age of 21, Gerhard left home and travelled to Genoa, Italy, where he boarded the S.S. Argentina and headed to Canada to start a new chapter in his life. He arrived in Halifax on August 16, 1952, and from there he headed west, eventually arriving at a farm close to Walsh, where he spent time working for his sponsoring family. He moved to Medicine Hat where he met Regina Exner. He moved to Trail for work, Regina followed and they were married on September 15, 1956. They eventually moved back to Medicine Hat where they spent the remainder of their lives. Gerhard worked at Canada Post for many years before retiring. In his spare time, he loved to play chess or spend time in his garden. He was City of Medicine Hat Chess Champion on several occasions. Gerhard also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Society in Medicine Hat for several years and accumulated over 5000 hours of volunteer time. He was a long-time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. to 12:55 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
The funeral service will take place at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 27,2023 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery.

JOAN DAVIES

JOAN DAVIES January 10, 1946 ~ September 22, 2023 It is with a heavy heart that Jim announces the passing of his loving wife, Joan Romayne Davies. Joan passed away peacefully at home with Jim by her side on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 77 years. VICTOR JANS

VICTOR JANS September 18th, 1932 – September 23rd, 2023
Victor Jans passed away on September 23rd, 2023, at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Jans; children, Terry Wanke of Prince George, Vivian Jans (James) of Winnipeg, Earl Jans of Winnipeg, Mark Jans of Medicine Hat; Cathy’s children, Ed Jans of Red Deer, Randy Jans of Edmonton and Shauna (Terry) Seitz of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his parents, Jay and Frieda Jans; brother, Russell Jans and sister, Anita Greenstein.

Victor was born in Medicine Hat and raised on the family farm in Walsh. He enjoyed fishing, working on his car and hunting. He enjoyed his family especially spending time with his grandchildren. He always liked a good joke. He loved his work as a city transit driver as he was always seen with a smile on his face.

Victor’s care at the Riverview Care Centre was exceptional for the last 5 1/2 years of his life.
