LYLE DUNWALD

LYLE DUNWALD February 5, 1950 ~ July 18, 2023
Lyle passed away peacefully at St.Paul’s hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Lyle was predeceased by his mother Dorthea Dunwald and father Clifford Dunwald as well as 2 infant sisters. Lyle was born in Maple Creek, the only surviving triplet.
He received his education at Golden Prairie before graduating from the U of S with a B.Sc. (Distinction). Lyle was a teacher, farmer and business partner with his family. Although he struggled at times with clinical depression, Lyle lived a rewarding life, remembered by his brother Wayne Dunwald, sister-in-law Laura Dunwald and may cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in Maple Creek at a later date. Any donations in Lyle’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

WILLIAM “BILL” DARRYL SWEENE

WILLIAM “BILL” DARRYL SWEENEY July 18, 1946 July 26, 2023 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather due to complications from COPD. After a lengthy and courageous battle, he passed peacefully at the age of 77. Bill is predeceased by his parents, David & Sharon; brother, Dennis; nephew Mackenzie; his parents-in-law, Tony & Anne Deck and brother-in-law, Gordon.
Bill leaves to mourn his wife, Marie Ann of 45 years; their children, Calvin Mason (Doug), Christine Ring (Art) and children Dakota, Hana, Declan; Corey Mason (Loralee) and children Allison and Leah; brothers, Keith Sweeney (Elaine) and Terry Sweeney (Bev); sister, Debbie Wiest (Pat); brother-in-law, Brian Deck (Mary Lou); extended family members, Trish (Bill), Craig (Joyce) and Dave; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Bill took great pride in his position as foreman in the lumber industry. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, cruising and his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders. Bill adored his children and grandchildren and retired to Alberta to be closer to them. In retirement, he enjoyed reading, driving school bus and loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and activities.

GERLINDE MITZNER

GERLINDE MITZNER 1942 ~ 2023 Gerlinde Marianne Mitzner passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the age of 81 years old. She was surrounded by her husband and daughters. She will be deeply missed by her husband Armin Mitzner of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Angela (Dave) Darbel, Monica Mitzner, Diana (Leon) Erickson and Tania Mitzner. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Will Darbel, Ella Darbel, Adam Darbel, Noah Mitzner, Holly Erickson, Hugh Erickson and Jamie Erickson; her sister, Feli Van Beek as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Bertha Beckmann; two brothers Martin Beckmann and Dieter Beckmann, and her sister Erika Beckmann.
Gerlinde was born in Konigsberg, Germany, but grew up in Essen, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and resided in Calgary, where she met her husband in 1973. She married Armin in 1974 and settled in Medicine Hat to raise their four daughters.
Gerlinde loved going for long drives, children, animals and reading. She especially loved trips to the mountains. Her kindness, generosity and compassion will always be remembered. Gerlinde was devoted to her family and was the absolute best mother.
Sincere thanks and much appreciation to the amazing staff at St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice for the incredible care given to Gerlinde and her family.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to service time. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church (515 Sprague Way SE) on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Edel officiating.
