GORDON BUSHELL

GORDON BUSHELL May 13, 1939 ~ June 26, 2023
It is with an extremely heavy heart that Myrna announces the sudden passing of her beloved husband, Gordon Nelson Bushell. He passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the age of 84 years. Along with Myrna, his loving wife of 51 years, left to honour his memory are his daughter, Heather Bushell and her daughter, Caitlyn; and Tammy (Colin) Burgevitz and their daughters, Taylor, Mykayla, Camryn and Sydney; sisters, Darlene (Bob) Sloan and Joy Leveille; best friends, Morgan and Dee Fargo as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, fellow firefighters and community members. Gord was born in Regina and raised on the family farm in Webb, SK. Like many young boys in that era, he quit school after grade 8 to help his family on the farm. In January of 1974, Gordon and Myrna moved to Seven Persons where he started working for Nowsco Well Service until 1995. Following that career, Gordon worked at various jobs including Medican Construction, farming and assisting Myrna at Canada Post. He was a dedicated volunteer fireman with the Seven Persons Fire Department for 45 years ‘retiring’ in 2019, as he still helped out with traffic control whenever he was given the opportunity to do so. Gordon was actively involved in the Seven Persons community whether that was picking up people’s garbage twice a week, events at the school, community events such as Quonset Days, or just stopping to lend a hand if he saw a neighbour needing help as he was driving around the town; he was always there when someone needed him! Gordon’s granddaughters meant the world to him as he spent many hours on the road picking them up from school activities and getting them to their destinations. Time spent with family and friends meant the most to him whether that was camping, having a scotch or coffee or just chit chatting with anyone and everyone; Gordon loved to be around people. He was a very happy man who was always up for a good time. Gordon was a pillar of the community and his strength and heart of gold will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him. A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at the Seven Persons Community Hall on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Anyone who is not able to attend but wishes to be a part of the service can visit http://www.cooksouthland.com and select the view broadcast button on the home page at service time.
