AGNES ALVINA (VEENIE) MACINTYRE
AGNES ALVINA (VEENIE) MACINTYRE July 6th, 1957 June 18th, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our caring, kind, fun and very special sister, Veenie, at 65 years of age. After a prolonged illness, Veenie was admitted to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on the 9th of June. Her comfort was paramount in the minds of her care team. After a visit with and a blessing from a priest from St. Patrick’s, she settled into a peaceful rest and made the next step of her journey early on the morning of June 18th.
Although she often spoke with fondness of her Cape Breton roots, Veenie was a true Albertan. Her passing occurred miles from her family and home but felt tremendously supported throughout her illness and in her final days by her true friends, Murray and Dianne.
Veenie was predeceased by both her mother, Betty and her youngest sister, Cheryl. Veenie will be dearly missed by her father, James; two brothers, John and Rick; sister, Donna; niece, Sarah and nephew, Vince, all of London, Ontario.
Music was Veenie’s life so it should not surprise anyone that she was both a gifted singer and musician. From an early age, she immersed herself in music: singing, dancing, record collecting, playing guitar, attending concerts, writing songs, and performing in public with both karaoke and bands at every opportunity. The music never stopped.
At Veenies request, no public service will be held. As described above, Veenie had a deep passion for music and musicians, so why don’t you go out and see a local struggling artist and raise a glass to Veenie instead.
Rest in peace, dear Veenie. You will forever remain in our hearts.
