ERIKA LEEKS January 24, 1992 ~ March 21, 2023
The family is heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Erika Marie Leeks in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the age of 31 years. Erika leaves to cherish her memory her two beautiful daughters, Vada Marie and Shania Jolee; mother, Carolyn MacLean-Leeks; brother, Devin (Amanda) Leeks and their children, Ryker and Amelia; sister, Carleen Smyke and her children, Nikki, Dezmon, Kaiden, and Aaryn, all of Medicine Hat. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, some of whom she was very close to. Erika was predeceased by her father, Eric Leeks; grandparents, Fred and Phyllis Leeks and Alexander and Joan MacLean. Born on January 24, 1992, Erika grew up in Medicine Hat, graduating from Crescent Heights High School. She enjoyed all her trips to Cape Breton to see Grandma and Grandpa especially the summer her and Kaylee spent a month there, swimming, hiking waterfalls and boating with Uncle Bill. Erika spent lots of time doing art and drawing. She loved outdoors, camping and traveling. Erika moved to Duncan, BC, where she fell in love and married Alex Scott. She loved BC as she was so happy there. She became very involved in her church and with her love for children, enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Erika was Godmother to her nephew, Ryker. She also started making amazing jam that she learned from Grandma Joan in those summers in Cape Breton. Her love for animals was always shown especially with her dog, Xena. After returning to Medicine Hat, Erika became a proud Mommy to Vada three years ago. Nothing was more precious than her time spent with Vada. She loved reading to her, doing arts and crafts, teaching Vada to draw and spending time outdoors with her. On March 5th, she gave birth to her second baby girl. In the short 2 weeks she had with Shania, she would cuddle and read to her while spending time with her in the NICU. Erika’s love for her two precious little girls was unbreakable and now she will eternally watch over them.
