HENNY VAN EERDE (NEE ZOETEMEYE

HENNY VAN EERDE (NEE ZOETEMEYER) May 1, 1931 ~ March 21, 2023Hendrina Maria ‘Henny’ van Eerde, beloved wife of the late Jack van Eerde, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the age of 91 years.  Left to mourn Henny’s passing are her children, Jeff (Janet) and Humphrey (Donna); grandchildren, Peter, David and Kevin; her sister, Els Werdmuller von Elgg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; son, Peter; parents, Bertus and Jeanette Zoetemeyer; brothers, Leen, Wim, Bert and Gerard as well as sisters, Netty, Corrie and Anneke.  Henny was born the eighth of nine children in Mojokerto, Indonesia.  After surviving several years in Japanese internment camps during the war, her family immigrated to the Netherlands in 1947, where she met Jack.  They were married in 1953, and immigrated to Canada in 1954.  After living briefly in Penticton, BC., Henny and Jack raised their family in Medicine Hat.   She travelled extensively with Jack and made new friends on each journey.  Henny had enduring friendships with the neighbours she met over the years.  She loved to camp, garden, feed the wildlife in her yard, bowl, read, play cards and do crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank all of her friends, especially Marilyn and Dick Moser and Rose and John Weimer, for the friendship and support they provided to Henny and family over the many years. DYANA LIPPERT This wonderful caring woman leaves behind her loving husband Randy, all the special people she loved: Wes Beatch, Wayne Debler (Vivan), Gerald Beatch, James Beatch and his children, David, Tavia (Kane Mcilwraith) and Blaine; Brandy (Dean Ries) and their children Daryl (Danika), Brandon, Matthew and very special young people, Damon, Natalie and Cadence. Also close to her were Art Knight, Rod and Debbie Lippert, Gail and Larry Snyder as well as many dear friends, nieces, nephews and of course her pets Hurley and Ebony. LORNE COLE 1967 – 2023 My love, you went through Heaven’s Gate and became an Angel. Our beloved Lorne Clark Cole, passed away at the South Health Campus in Calgary on March 20, 2023, with his loving wife and family by his side, following a lengthy illness and a courageous battle. Lorne was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on October 1, 1967. He was a journeyman auto mechanic. He loved to tinker with vehicles and do odd jobs like fixing a coffee machine. He enjoyed the challenge of “figuring it out” and succeeded almost every time. He so much loved his quality time with his family and friends – this meant the world to him. Other than his wife, he loved his fur babies “Rocky and Koco” and had a love/hate relationship with our Parott “Tristin”. During our times away from home they were entrusted with our dear friend Randy. Lorne will be missed by all who knew him – close friends to acquaintances. Besides his loving wife Adele, Lorne leaves to cherish his memory his parents Don and Ilene Pettyjohn; two brothers Shane (Shauna) and Joey (Krista); his nieces and nephews, Luke, James, Jordan (Godchild), Payton, Mathew (Marina), Makayla (Godchild), Maverick, Marshall, Eric (Kali and son Myren), his parents-in-law Tom and Dianne Hammond. He was predeceased by his birth father Clark Cole; one brother Kurt Cole; his grandparents, Walter and Gwen Cole and Frank and Elvira Duke and Marjorie Pettyjohn. Family and friends will gather for the prayer service in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday March 31st at 7:00 p.m. led by Fr. Naveed Arif. CATRIONA “TRIONA” MARKS DUNLOP August 1, 1924 March 18, 2023 It is with tremendous sadness and deep love that we say goodbye to an extraordinary daughter, sister, aunt and amazing friend. Triona passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, in her 99th year. Triona was born August 1, 1924, in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland to parents John and Agnes Dunlop. In March of 1929, Triona and her parents courageously boarded the Montrose and crossed the Atlantic from Belfast to North America. Their family first moved to Seven Persons, then shortly thereafter settled in Medicine Hat. Triona’s career as a secretary spanned decades as she worked for many local companies: the CPR, Northwest Nitro-Chemicals, Western Co-Op Fertilizers and at the Medicine Hat and District Hospital. Triona has been described as a stalwart of St John’s Presbyterian Church where she grew up and served on the Board of Managers, Elder in Kirk Session Committees and more than 14 years as the first woman Clerk of session in St John’s Church history. Triona is predeceased by her parents and beloved brother John. She leaves to cherish her memory her niece, Tara (Graham), great niece, Grace and great nephew, Greg as well as her precious and specially appreciated friend and supporter, Gloria. Triona’s witty sense of humour, legacy of Christian faith, loyalty to family and her community, her style and fashion sense, and her love of everything Irish will be held close within our hearts always.
