Joan was born September 11th, 1941 in Eatonia, SK. She grew up in the Laporte and Eatonia area. As a youth, Joan was very athletic and enjoyed curling, playing softball, camping, and fishing with her family. Joan moved to Medicine Hat in 1960 and began working at Dominion Glass, where she met Leo. They married in 1962 and later welcomed sons, Darrell and Brent. Joan enjoyed spending summers at Elkwater, she loved the sun, outdoors, and especially the water. She was an excellent water skier and taught many of the family how to ski. In the later years, she took up golf so she could spend more time with her boys. Joan worked for 52 years. She was a Journeyman Partsman, worked for Acklands, Medicine Hat Honda, and Southland Power Sports. Being an independent and DIY type of person, there was nothing she could not do from cutting hair to fixing the washing machine. Being a very social and outgoing person, she never missed a family event, dance, or get together. Once her boys moved away, she and Leo spent more time travelling to Calgary and Texas to spend time with their beloved grandchildren. Joan was known and loved by many, and she will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her. CATRIONA “TRIONA” MARKS DU

CATRIONA “TRIONA” MARKS DUNLOP August 1, 1924 March 18, 2023 It is with tremendous sadness and deep love that we say goodbye to an extraordinary daughter, sister, aunt and amazing friend. Triona passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, in her 99th year. Triona was born August 1, 1924, in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland to parents John and Agnes Dunlop. In March of 1929, Triona and her parents courageously boarded the Montrose and crossed the Atlantic from Belfast to North America. Their family first moved to Seven Persons, then shortly thereafter settled in Medicine Hat. Triona’s career as a secretary spanned decades as she worked for many local companies: the CPR, Northwest Nitro-Chemicals, Western Co-Op Fertilizers and at the Medicine Hat and District Hospital. Triona has been described as a stalwart of St John’s Presbyterian Church where she grew up and served on the Board of Managers, Elder in Kirk Session Committees and more than 14 years as the first woman Clerk of session in St John’s Church history. Triona is predeceased by her parents and beloved brother John. She leaves to cherish her memory her niece, Tara (Graham), great niece, Grace and great nephew, Greg as well as her precious and specially appreciated friend and supporter, Gloria. Triona’s witty sense of humour, legacy of Christian faith, loyalty to family and her community, her style and fashion sense, and her love of everything Irish will be held close within our hearts always. Flowers are gratefully declined. A graveside service will be held at a later date. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
