BERNAND PETERSON


BERNAND PETERSON 1934 – 2023 Bernand Peterson of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday February 5, 2023, at the age of 88 years, beloved husband of the late Carolina Peterson. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Ronald (Peggy) Peterson and Dale Peterson; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kyle) Stanko, Adam (Ashley) Peterson, Kenny (Shelagh) Peterson, Heather (Tyler) Gosnell, Christopher Peterson and ten great grandchildren. Bernand was born on June 30, 1934, to Kay and Myrtle Peterson in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He was raised in Bow Island and in 1950 left school to start farming. He then attended SAIT in Calgary to study agriculture mechanics. On November 3, 1951, he married Carolina Winder and they lived in Bow Island before moving to the family farm the next spring. In 1965, they purchased their farm and built the farmstead they lived on until retirement. While farming Bernand was one of the first farmers to start no-til farming and proved it increased production. Upon retirement, they moved to Redcliff and eventually Medicine Hat. Bernand was a longtime member of the B.P.O. Elks in Bow Island and Medicine Hat Woodcarving Club; he also enjoyed playing pool with his buddies from Encore. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.
