Kent Jesse
KENT JESSE April 16, 1972 ~ October 26, 2022 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Kent William Jesse in Calgary on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the age of 50 years. Kent is survived by his daughter, Katelin; mother, Linda Jesse; brother, Todd Jesse; sister Christy (Jason) Wheeldon and nieces, Brooke and Courtney. Kent was predeceased by his father, Larry Jesse; grandparents, many aunts and uncles. Kent was born on April 16, 1972, in Medicine Hat. He was a very bright child and brought joy to his parents with his happy but inquisitive demeanor. Kent graduated with honours from Medicine Hat High School in 1990, and knew his path would be Law in which he received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. Kent then went on to the University of Victoria where he obtained his law degree and was quickly picked by a law firm in Calgary which grew his career becoming a highly successful lawyer. Kent took great pride in his wins for his clients and never lost a case that went to trial. He was smart and astute with a high degree of diligence in all of his work. Kent always wanted to be a Dad. He was the happiest and proudest man in the world when he and then wife, Angela welcomed Katelin into the world. Katelin was the brightest light in his life and he loved her very much. The last few years were not the easiest for Kent, however, his life began to change when he was fortunate to meet a wonderful lady, Debbie. Debbie’s endless kindness, love and support were helping Kent move forward and get back on track in a positive direction. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Debbie, Rick, Kurt, John and many more friends and colleagues who have been so supportive through this difficult time. A Celebration of Kent’s Life will be held at the Best Western Plaza Hotel, 1316 – 33 Street N.E., Calgary, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at

MARIA LUTZ
1934 ~ MARIA LUTZ ~ 2022
Maria was born at home in Mendham, SK 88 years ago. She passed away peacefully with the sunshine on her face, in her favorite chair, surrounded by her family in a room filled with love. We envision dad greeting her with open arms as they fast waltzed their way into Heaven together. Mom was loving, quick witted, forgiving, tenacious, strong willed, and she gave the best hugs. She could make a sailor blush and lived her life unfiltered in the best and funniest ways. She had an energy about her that compelled people to confide in her everywhere she went. Her five year old great granddaughter said, “GG was just the best!” And she was. She met dad at a country dance when she was nineteen and together they farmed and raised their girls. She will be remembered for her exceptional curling skills, her love of softball both as a phenomenal shortstop and fan, and her amazing ability to haul grain, leave the field, drive into town, have her hair done, don a kerchief and be back in the field before dad even missed her :). She was mom to every friend we brought home and then she became grams to her grandchildren’s friends, and for the past 11 years her great grandchildren were her life. She will be missed so much by so many and her legacy will live on in the example of strength she left us with. Maria is survived by her daughters, Peggy Helfrich, Jo Ann (Bill) Blott, and Debra Lutz; her grandchildren, Avery (Logan) Grant, Bennett Helfrich, Coye (Jaelyn) Helfrich, Josh Blott, and Jory (Becky) Blott; her great grandchildren, Storey, Emree, Lyric, Cohen, Annorah, Mila, Haelyn, Brooklyn, and Jack; her sister, Catherine Besplug; her sisters in law, Gertie Mass, Marlene Lutz, and Kay Hauck; numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special ladies, Kendra Helfrich and Yvonne Bratvold. Maria was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Elizabeth (nee Dietrich) Hauck; her six brothers and their spouses, Bill (Marie), Tony (Vera), Leonard (Millie), Matt (Rose), George (Kay), and Joe; her sister, Betty (Hank) Galecki; her brother-in-law, Bert Besplug; and her son-in-law, Rod Helfrich. A private family Graveside will be held. In lieu of Memorial gifts, the family would greatly appreciate Random Acts of Kindness in honor of our beloved mom/gramma/GG or donations to A.J.’s Loan Cupboard, P.O. Box 45006, MacKenzie Drug Post Office, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0B1. Condolences may be sent through
