RANDY FRANKLIN GAUB

RANDY FRANKLIN GAUB January 30th, 1951 October 26th, 2022 It is with great sadness that the family of Randy Gaub announce his passing on October 26th, 2022, at the age of 71 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Marilyn (nee Fode); daughters, Deanie (Terry) Hammond and Charlie (Cody) Oliver; grandchildren, Alastair, Ewan and Seamus Hammond, Cosmo and Dandy Oliver; brother, Jim (Paula) Gaub; nephew, James (Pat) Gaub; niece, Terry (Bart) Holowath; his beloved cats, Ozy and Blue. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Gottlieb and Edith Gaub; in-laws, Ted and Velma Fode.
Randy was born in Medicine Hat and raised south of Elkwater on his family ranch. Randy was a journeyman roofer, a hard worker and liked to point out all the roofs around town that he had worked on. He loved watching his basketball team, the Raptors, and lately you might have saw him cruising around on his mobility scooter.

ROGER J. B.MARPLE

ROGER J. B.MARPLE October 23rd, 1957 October 24th, 2022 Roger J.B. Marple, age 65, passed away on Monday October 24, 2022, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Roger was born in Bolton, Ontario to Ralph and Gertrude Marple. He is survived by his 3 children, 3 grandchildren, brother and sister. He grew up in Bolton, Ontario and in adulthood moved to the West and eventually settled in Medicine Hat, which he made his home and lived with his wunder-cat, Bernie. Roger worked for over 23 years for Alberta Health Services. In 2015, Roger was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s, which did not keep Roger down, as he became an outspoken advocate for those with dementia, trying to spread the message that there is still life to live even after diagnosis. He never wanted anyone in the same place as him to ever feel hopeless. Recently, Roger won AGE-WELL’s Honorary Fellow Award, recognizing him as a member who has made long-term and substantial contributions. Roger did much work with Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, advocating against the stigma of dementia and helping with research. Roger was also a board member of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories. All his volunteer work is the legacy that Roger has left behind. Roger was an avid baker as well, known by his friends and family as a premier butter tart connoisseur.

2010 ~ ARIEL LOUIS JOE ~ 2022 Ariel Joe of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at the age of 12 years. Ariel leaves to cherish his memory his father, Ernie Lovely; mother, Jackie Shaler; grandmother, Debbie Thompson, sister, Haily Thomas, brothers, Larry Joe, Kaleb Lovely-Shaler, Horace Lovely-Shaler and Karzen Lovely-Shaler; and Auntie Vicki Lovely. Ariel was born in Lac La Biche, AB on April 19th, 2010. Ariel was a very bright lovable boy; he enjoyed taekwondo and football; his favorite hockey team was the Calgary Flames. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. 1935 – TONY LANZ – 2022 Anthony “Tony” I. Lanz passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the age of 87 years, beloved husband of Rose Lanz of Medicine Hat. Surrounded by the love of his family, Ian passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022, at the age of 86 years.
Lovingly remembered by Myrtle, his wife of 62 years. Per the family’s request, COVID-19 precautions will be in effect in all locations. Masks and hand sanitizing will be mandatory.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at St. Paul Lutheran Church one hour prior to the funeral service.
The funeral service will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church, (515 Sprague Way SE), on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Ken Edel officiating.
