ARDIS ANN HAUPT

October 12, 1935 ~ September 6, 2022

Ardis Ann Haupt, beloved wife of the late Johnny Haupt, passed away at the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the age of 86 years. Ardis was born on October 12, 1935, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to Edith and Henry Borman. She was the youngest of four children and grew up on the family farm in the Skull Creek district. Ardis attended school in Skull Creek, Maple Creek and did some of her schooling through correspondence. Later on, she furthered her education in Calgary becoming a lab technician. She worked for a short time in Prince Albert and then in Medicine Hat until 1973. Ardis met her sweetheart, Johnny Haupt, at Beef Club Achievement Day and they were married in December 1957 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Maple Creek, having their dance at Star Butte School. They lived at the Haupt farm in the Star Butte district for a short time and then moved to Medicine Hat where they bought a house on Ross Street. In 1961, they bought their farm near Seven Persons, on the open prairie with the creek running threw it. They worked very hard to establish this farm and Ardis took great pride in her home, yard and the many trees she planted. She always loved working in her yard. In 1967, they welcomed a son, Steven and in 1968, a daughter, Stephanie. Ardis was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and was a talented seamstress, making quilts and clothing for her grandchildren; these things will be cherished forever. Ardis was kind, patient and gentle and her grandchildren loved to spend time with her. In 2013, with health issues looming, Ardis and Johnny moved to Medicine Hat and returned to the farm for two summers until they could no longer live there independently. Ardis was a resident of the Good Samaritan Village for the past five years and the staff there became like family. Ardis’ family will forever be grateful for the love and compassion they showed them. Ardis is survived by her children: son, Steve (Tracy) and their children Paige (Jayson) and Cody; daughter, Stephanie (Jim) and their children Tiffany, Samantha (Brandon) and their boys, Cole and Tyson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by John in 2020, and the family takes comfort in knowing they are together again holding hands. ‘Rest peacefully mom, you will forever be in our hearts!’ A private family gathering will be held at a later date. BERNARD (BARNEY) ZUBOT

Bernard (Barney) Zubot passed from this earth to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 11, 2022 in his home at the Villa Marie in Red Deer Alberta, at the age of 95.
Barney started his teaching career at a young age (17) and taught for eight memorable years. While teaching in Medicine Hat and area, he met and married the love of his life, Rose Schlosser. The second passion in his work career was farming (which included many farm equipment modifications). He and Rose returned to the family farm in the Mendham area after they had been married for a year. It was here that they raised their four children, were active in their community and church and had a wonderful life surrounded by family, many dear friends and neighbors in this close- knit community. He loved hosting his siblings and their families on the farm on which they had grown up. His third work passion was income tax. While still farming he studied to become a farm tax accountant and enjoyed knowing the tax laws so thoroughly that he could work them to the advantage of himself or one of the many neighbors whose taxes he did. Barney and Rose enjoyed their retirement in Medicine Hat which for Barney included competitive bowling, lots of golf, curling (which was best when done with his brothers), countless card games, traveling with their fifth-wheel trailer and always trying to find a way to brighten someone’s day.
Although Barney no longer was a teacher in a school classroom, he remained a teacher in the classroom of life all his years. And what a great teacher he was! His zest for life, love of family, problem-solving and enthusiasm for a new adventure, combined with his love of a joke or trick resulted in a life filled with much joy and happiness.
He was predeceased by his wife Rose (nee Schlosser), his parents Michael and Mary Zubot, his parents-in-law Frank and Barbara Schlosser and was the last survivor of a family of eleven children.
Barney’s memory and his love lives on in his four children, Janice (Bob) Schmitt, Beverly (Bob Gephart) Zubot, Albin (Marilyn) Zubot and Myra (Jack Mitchell) Zubot Mitchell. Many stories and fond memories are held close in the hearts of his fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for prayers at Eventide Funeral Home (4820 45th St, Red Deer) on Sunday, September 18 at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Mary’s Parish (6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer) on Monday September 19 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, in Medicine Hat at a later date.

STEPHAN ANDREW FRANCIS DEVONSHIRE

1972 ~ 2022

Stephan Andrew Francis Devonshire left this earthly realm on August 3, 2022 at the age of 49 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Ryan, Matthew, and Andrew; mum and dad, Gwyn and Mick Devonshire; sister, Shirma Rose; niece, Mikyla; nephew, Camden; and will also be fondly remembered by many family and friends around the world. He was predeceased by his infant brother, Glynn Tilney. Stephan was born in Poole, Dorset, England on October 19th, 1972. He travelled in a sky cot aboard an old Hercules to Gibralta at seven weeks of age. This started his life as a “Pads Brat”; first returning to Ripon, North Yorkshire and then Hamelin, Germany, and finally arriving at Ralston, AB at the age of four years. He grew up to be an outdoorsman…attending summer camps wherever they took him, Beavers to Boy Scouts, and Cadets to SALH. Stephan joined the regular forces when his second son was born…pretty fair to say he was “Army Barmy” from a young age. Stephan also loved soccer and rugby. He attended school in Medicine Hat; Rossglen, Alexandra Middle school, and Medicine High School. After high school he was admitted into the drafting program in Lethbridge. His dad, Mick, taught him mechanics and while he was in the Armed Forces he completed his Heavy Duty mechanics. Friends and family fondly called Stephan “fix it” or “fetch it”. He would help anyone in need of assistance with building or mechanical projects. He will be sorely missed. The last few years, “the Covid period” has not been kind to many. A memorial service was held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB. Please, in lieu of flowers, take a few moments to reach out to your fellow man in need. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Stephan Devonshire.
