LORRAINE DALLA-LONGA
July 14, 1954 – July 18, 2022
I had the “Time of My Life”.
I came from a family of six children. My Mom and Dad; John and Doris Dalla-Longa, both passed away in 2001. My siblings are Lawrence (Diana), their children Tracy, Mandee, (daughter Journee); Joanne (Kelvin), their children Michael (Jamie), Mark (Michelle), (daughters Faith (Brendan) and Morgan); Johnny; Janice and her children Ryan, (his children Roman, Jaxton, Kenna) and Megan; Valora (Clint) their children Aaron (Sarah) (their children Jacob, Leo, Lily) and Austyn (Shay), Taylor (son, Weston) and Brennan. As well as all my relatives in Medicine Hat and Italy that I was so thankful to meet in 2018.
I lived most of my life in Medicine Hat. From a young age I loved dancing, and this became my passion in life. Even during my schooling, I taught Majorettes. We travelled with bands and performed concerts in Western Canada and USA. I started the very first Aerobic studio in Medicine Hat on Maple Avenue called Shape City in 1979. From there, fitness was part of my soul. I went on to have a Fitness Centre in Fairview moving it to Peace River and calling it “Fitness on the Go” which is now located downtown on Main Street; Everybody’s Business in Medicine Hat and the Dance Connection with my husband Angus Henderson, (deceased in 2016).
I commuted to southern Alberta and Saskatchewan to teach dance as well. I also started the Aquasize program at the Family Leisure centre in 2001 and continued with the Crestwood pool for a few years but later sold the studio and went to part time fitness to become a caregiver for my husband. I worked at Fairview College and Camrose Lutheran College in Administration and also taught “Filing and Office Procedures” in their secretarial program. I sat on the boards of Spectrum for 12 years; Alive after Five which is now in its sixth year; Friends of the Monarch and on the City Centre Development Agency. I enjoyed working with people – I made some enemies but I made many friends and acquaintances through my life and my life’s travels. I have managed the Arcade Plaza and Hammond building for 14 years before becoming a shareholder in the Medicine Hat Retirement Villa the last 10 years. I owned and operated Scrubs Diner with Ray Tone, who helped make it so successful being our Promotions Manager. We both made so many friends and acquaintances in this business and in all our travels the past 5 years around the world.
Thank you so much Ray, I could’ve travelled another 50 years, but I have to run a travel agency in Heaven now!
I am Happy!!! I had a Great Life!!!
