HOUSTON GREGORY KREIN

1988-2022
On May 26, 2022 Greg and Miriam Krein received the devastating news that their beautiful boy Houston Gregory Krein, age 33, passed away suddenly of a heart attack. He was enjoying a day on the beach playing soccer in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Houston lived life in the fast lane; sledding, quadding, boating, scuba diving, elephant rides in Thailand, hugging Koalas in Australia… he lived life to the fullest every day. Houston was born in Medicine Hat Alberta on October 10, 1988. Houston’s Dad remembers his first dirt bike and 4 wheeler rides at age 8, burning up circles on frozen wheat fields. Houston attended Medicine Hat high school until grade 11, then enrolled at SAIT for a three-year Recreational Vehicle Technician program where he received his general diploma, and an award for having the highest marks in the program in the province of Alberta. Houston then went on to achieve his Red Seal Journeyman certification, and was able to use his skills as an RV technician to repair bunkhouses out in the oil field. As a natural entrepreneur, Houston started up three successful branches related to the recreational vehicle business in Medicine Hat, where he was honoured as one of the top 40 businessmen under the age of 40. At one point in his young life he spent a fun filled weekend in the Okanagan with his cousins and decided to make a major move. Houston started out with the purchase of a property in Salmon arm BC, but found the small Shuswap town to be a little quiet for his liking. Houston then found and developed a beautiful property backing onto Mission Creek in Kelowna, where he continues to provide housing for adults over the age of 55. Once he got the Mansion Resort up and running, Houston’s attention was turned to yachting and enjoying the Okanagan lifestyle. Houston loved speed and thrills, and he always wore his heart on his sleeve. Houston was loved by many including special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, many of whom called him brother; 3 honorary nephews and a niece that will always remember him as ‘Uncle Huey’. Houston was predeceased by his very proud grandparents Fred and Ella Krein, and Earle and Vivian Crowe. Friends and family who wish to celebrate Houston’s life on Sunday, June 26 at 11AM in Medicine Hat may email: kreinm@hotmail.com to confirm the location and number of attendees. Houston was a proud supporter of STARS; the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service. Anyone who wishes to donate in his name, may do so.
