1936 – JOSEPHINE KOCH – 2022

Josephine Koch, beloved wife of the late Peter Koch, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 20, 2022 at the age of 85 years. Family and friends are invited to the prayer service which will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. 1967 – KENT McKAY – 2022

Kent Warden McKay passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the age of 54 years, beloved husband of Tammy Hansen-McKay of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother Joan Young (Allen); one brother, Wade McKay; his father-in-law Keld Hansen; two step-sisters, Dawn Marie (Mike) Westad and Natalie (Darcy) Mayne as well as many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his father Jim McKay; mother-in-law Vivian Hansen and brother-in-law Ken Hansen. A celebration of Kent’s life will be held at a later date. ABERLE, Darlene Ann


The Family of Darlene Ann Aberle is deeply saddened to share the news of her passing at the Rockyview General Hospital on March 19, 2022 at the age of 71 years.
Darlene will be dearly missed by her brother and sister-in-law Floyd and Phyllis Aberle of Calgary, her nephew Dennis (Alison) of Calgary, her niece Karen (Anthony) of Wetaskiwin, her great-niece Nicole (Jake) of Airdrie, her great-nephew Jacob of Calgary and her lifelong friend Anita Hyde of Medicine Hat. Darlene was predeceased by her father Ralph on September 19, 1967, her brother Barry on February 13, 2005 and her mother Magdalene Hasper on November 24, 2017. Darlene was born in Medicine Hat AB on October 15, 1950. After graduating from McCoy High School, Darlene was proud to be the first of her family to go on to post-secondary. She attended St Michael’s School of Nursing in Lethbridge AB, graduating in June 1973 and later earned her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary in November 1994. Darlene began her nursing career at the Medicine Hat General Hospital followed by two years at Barlow Hospital in Los Angeles California before moving to Calgary in the fall of 1979 where she worked at the Colonel Belcher, Rockyview and Peter Lougheed Hospitals until her retirement in June 2006.
Darlene enjoyed travelling around the US with her friend Brona, whom she met while working at Barlow Hospital in LA, her yearly trips to BC with her mother and her special excursions cruising to Mexico, exploring the east coast of the US and Canada and touring all the sights in China. Following retirement, she spent several winters escaping the cold visiting Brona in Southern California. Darlene loved spending time with her extended family, especially her nieces and nephews, and she loved animals, particularly her rabbit “Bunny” and her poodle “Ten” and then there were the finches….. .
Darlene’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate teams that cared for her this past year – Unit 47 at the Foothills Medical Centre, the Bonavista Unit at the Southwood Care Centre and Unit 74 at the Rockyview General Hospital. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (Arbor Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Darlene’s name directly to the Canadian Cancer Society #200, 325 Manning Road NE Calgary AB T2A 2P5 or to the charity of one’s choice. BETTY ELIZABETH SCHERER

1927 – 2022
Betty Scherer, beloved wife of the late Henry Scherer passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, on March 14th, 2022, at the age of 94. She leaves her children to cherish her memory, Darlene (Emile) and their family from North Bay, Ontario; Gary (Dianne) and their family from Coaldale, Alberta; Candy (Ed) and their family from Bragg Creek, Alberta; daughter-in-law, Dawn (Terry) and her family from Lethbridge, Alberta; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her five brothers; three sisters; as well as her son, Rocky Scherer. Betty was born at the family farm in Golden Prairie, SK, to John and Christina Spitzer on August 15th, 1927. At Betty’s request, a private family graveside service will be held at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery in Medicine Hat, where she will reside next to her late husband, Henry. Rosella Marie Meier of Taber, beloved wife of Donald Meier, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 after a short battle with Cancer at the age of 75 years.

Rose leaves a legacy of love and family. She was cherished by her husband Don Meier and all her children Kevin (Maria) Meier of Calgary, Donna (Lindsey) Hughes of Sylvan Lake, John Meier of Lethbridge and Colin (Judy) Meier of Lethbridge; daughter-in-law Tracy Stratton; grandchildren Britney, Dominique, Brianne, Alexandra, Nicole, Brooklyn, Dylan, Taylor, Jenna, Chace, Kurtis, Sebastian and Gabriel were her pride and joy and their love for her shone like a brilliant star.
She was predeceased by her son Kevin, parents, sisters and a brother.
Rose was born September 29, 1946 in Leader, Saskatchewan to Peter and Mary Steinkey. She married Donald Meier on April 24, 1965. Rose loved curling, traveling, fishing, camping, western music, spending hours on the phone with you and most of all she loved participating in all the accomplishments of her grandchildren. From birthdays, plays, performances, grads and more and she was looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild. Rose loved her immediate and extended family fiercely.
To our cherished and beloved wife, mom, nana, family member and friend, may you rest in peace along side your beloved son and may you continue to guide us, watch over us and inspire us. You will never be forgotten and always be in our hearts.
