1924 – ALICE LORRAINE ZEEB – 2021

Alice Zeeb of Medicine Hat passed away on December 9th, 2021 at the age of 97 years, beloved wife of the late Adam Zeeb. Leaving to cherish Alice's memory is her special niece Carol Thompson and dear neighbours Gail and Vaughn Thome as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Adam (1990), daughter Joyce (1967), son Gary (2010), sister Agnes Trekofski (1998), nephew Wayne Trekofski (2021) and parents George (1978) and Helen Borth (1996). Alice was born July 14th, 1924 at Stewart, Minnesota. In 1928, the family moved to Tilley Alberta where she received her education. Alice and Adam were married on April 16th, 1941, and farmed at Tilley until 1944, when they moved to a farm in Saskatchewan near Walsh. In 1955, they moved to an acreage in Walsh. They then retired to Medicine Hat in 1985. Alice remained in her home until early 2017 then moved into the Good Samaritan in Medicine Hat and she remained there until her passing. Alice's strong faith helped her throughout her life. She was a long standing member of the CWL and Women's Institute. Alice's interests included gardening, bowling, playing cards and social gatherings. We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at the Good Samaritan Cottages who looked after Alice, especially during her final days. 1941 – BARBARA GOLDADE – 2021

Barbara Magdalena Goldade of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late Simon Goldade. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Shane (Fran) and their children Sandy, Nathan, Carly (her children Halle and Jason), Cassie (Mike), Trisha (Derick, their son Reef); Scott (Teresa) and his son Braden (Amanda and their son Benjamin); Jody (Nicole) and their children Savannah (Brendyn, their children Wyatt, Annabeth and Michael), Hailey (Ryan), Bradley (Cari, their children Hayven and Payslee); two brothers, Jack (Peggy) Riedlinger, Cleo (Crystal) Riedlinger; two sisters, Rosanne Closs, Gloria Battyanie; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Walter) Eresman, Peggy Goldade, Thelma Goldade and brother-in-law Peter Clauss as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Edith and Arthur Riedlinger; her husband Simon on September 26, 2013, and one sister Diana Clauss. Barbara was born on January 3, 1941 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. She married Simon on June 20, 1959, in Medicine Hat where they raised their family. She was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren; enjoying family gatherings and going to any sporting event to watch her grandchildren. Her family was her life. If you knew Barb, you knew about her Strudels. At anytime, if anyone in her family needed an ear, she was always there to listen. 1944 – ERIKA BAEDKE – 2021

Erika Baedke of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 76 years, beloved wife of the late Otto Baedke. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 2pm with Rev. Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people. Masks are mandatory. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for “Pattison Funeral Home Youtube”. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. MAC McKEE

November 5, 1936 ~ December 8, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Herbert Alden ‘Mac’ McKee, beloved husband of Bev, announce his peaceful passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the age of 85 years. Along with Bev, his loving wife of 61 years, Mac leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Kelly (Murray) Schlenker; nieces, Nonie (Gary) Hepburn and Diane (Bruce) Young; nephew, Andy (Laura) McKee; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews as well as his many sister-in-Laws and brother-in-laws and their families: Brenda (Richard) Haener, Sheila Dunphy, Darryl (Judy) Dunphy, Wayne Dunphy, Larry (Grace) Dunphy and Marlene (Gerald) Dubois. He was predeceased by his son, Brian in 1992 and his older brother Pat McKee in December of 2006. Mac was born to Herbert and Mary McKee (nee Reeves) on November 5, 1936 in Drumheller, Alberta. His early years were spent on the farm in Craigmyle, Alberta and he was raised and educated in Trochu, Alberta. He later pursued his passion to educate others, receiving his teaching degree at the University of Calgary. A shortage of teachers in the 1960’s opened the door of opportunity for Mac to teach at McCoy in Medicine Hat. He was the first Protestant educator to teach at the Catholic High School. Over the years, he made every effort to have a positive impact on his students, whether teaching shop, math, french or computer programming. Mac was 24 years of age when he married Beverley Anne Dunphy at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Calgary on December 28, 1960. Over the years, his deep faith in God remained constant. He lived his life with integrity, truth and honour… always a man of his word. Mac was a long-time member of the Elks Club. This provided him with an opportunity to support the community while shooting some pool and having a few beers with lots of laughs. Mac had numerous hobbies and talents. He was an avid landscape artist, creating a beautiful, colourful and private garden in each yard he had as well as at his daughter’s first home. Mac’s huge garden ensured that the family had fresh veggies all winter long while raising his family. His ability to design and draft blueprints was a gift he had and he designed the Tudor style home that both his children were raised in. He was very proud of the home he designed with his family in mind. Mac enjoyed hunting and looked forward each year to making sausage at the Stroh’s. He loved golfing with the Medicine Hat Firemen and friends who went annually to Whitefish, Montana to golf for many happy adventures. He especially enjoyed golfing with his son Brian. Mac wanted his kids to experience travel and expand their horizons. After travelling to England, Ireland and France with Bev several times, he took the entire family on a trip to Europe. This was one summer after a beautiful trip to Montreal and Ontario with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Mac loved listening to Jazz music as well as making his own, playing alto and tenor saxophone for various local bands. His quick wit and great sense of humour often made him the life of the party. Mac was extremely hospitable, and some of the best parties were had at the McKee residence over the years where Mac could be found at the BBQ enjoying a Guinness (Vitamin “G”) or a good Rusty Nail! Though he was friends with many, family was always Mac’s priority. This included his grand-puppies, MeeMee and Connor, who he always had treats for in his pockets when he visited. Due to the current Covid restrictions, attendance at Mac’s service will be by invitation only. The funeral service for Mac will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 – 4 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Oz Lorentzen officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. RUSSELL JAMES BAITON

1959 ~ 2021
We are saddened by the passing of our much-loved brother Russell James Baiton (Rusty) on November 23, 2021, at the age of 62 years in Lethbridge Alberta. He was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Left to cherish his memory is his son John and daughter Silva. Rusty is survived by his brothers and sisters, Richard Baiton (Ellen), Roxanne Harkness (Scott), Hope Fairbrother (Blaine), Darcy Baiton, Mikhaela Jennings (Dan), and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and special bonds with cousins and many good friends. Rusty is predeceased by his parents John and Johanna Baiton. Rusty worked in the oil fields for years and continued post-secondary education at the Concordia University in Montreal and then earned his master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Lethbridge. He also worked as a tutor and taught writing and English in Lethbridge. Rusty was good-natured and was well liked by everyone who knew him and loved a good laugh. He would reminisce and laugh with his brothers for hours on their misadventures of their youth. He was very interested in people and their stories and was an articulate conversationalist. He kept close to his family and loved visiting with friends and his cousins. He was a humble, sensitive and gentle person and worked hard in providing for his family. He was very proud of his children John and Silva and often talked of their exceptional interests, accomplishments and academic pursuits fostered by their parents. Rusty had a passion for learning and a quest for knowledge and was very well read. He had many interests including music, the guitar and mandolin, wrote poems and stories and was interested in genealogy. He loved his motorbike and took amazing bike trips with friends throughout his life.
Rusty will be forever in our hearts.
