1946 – ELGIN HORNUNG – 2021
Elgin Lawrence Hornung passed away on Tuesday , November 2, 2021 at the age of 74 years, beloved husband of Sylvia Hornung of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Rocky Hornung (Coralee Tjeerdema), Rhonda (Tony) Saba and Ryan (Christine) Hornung all of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Destin, Camri, Audrey, Lincoln, Kinsley and Gracelyn; his brother, Randy (Nola) Hornung; three sisters, Lorraine (Vic) Baron, Sandra Hornung and Marion (Stu) Warrener as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Lawrence Hornung; his brother, Keith and sister, Geraldine.
Elgin was born on November 11, 1946 in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. He was the first son born to Lawrence and Mary Hornung. They lived on a farm a few miles south of Glen Bain. He loved to farm and started driving at the age of six. He preferred work to school and completed his grade ten which was the minimum requirement to begin a trade. In 1962, he enrolled at SIAST in Saskatoon in Farm Machinery but discovered the class was full. The welding class was not so he chose that. He apprenticed in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and found his way to Calgary where by July of 1967, he received his welding apprenticeship certificate.
Elgin met Sylvia on a blind date at the Redcliff Drive-in the fall of 1966. The date was set up by Elgin’s sister who became friends with Sylvia that same year at McCoy High School. They were married on April 20, 1968, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Medicine Hat. Elgin and Sylvia had their first child (Rocky) on January 2, 1969. Those early years were a struggle but through hard work and the support of family and friends, Elgin eventually ended up working at Kurt's Iron Works. The second of three children (Rhonda) was born on December 30,1970.
In the summer of 1976, Elgin and Sylvia decided that they wanted to start their own Welding business but they did not know where. By this time, they had their third and final child Ryan who was born on March 6, 1976. Elgin loaded up the family in a motorhome and drove across Canada looking for a new city to live and start a business. Despite seeing some great places that summer, Elgin and Sylvia decided to open up a welding shop back where they started in Medicine Hat. On November 1, 1976, Dynamic Welding Crafts Ltd. opened for business. Dynamic Welding was in operation for 30 years and proved very successful allowing Elgin and Sylvia to retire in 2006. Elgin ensured that post-retirement his garage was stock-piled with a tool for almost any kind of renovation. And boy did he and Sylvia renovate. In addition to renovating their own homes over the years, there isn’t a family member or relative who doesn’t have a story of Elgin showing up upon request or even unannounced to help with handi-work of some kind. He could always be relied upon to show up to help.
Elgin enjoyed retirement and loved spending time at Buffalo Pound, Saskatchewan where they owned a cabin for a number of years and where they routinely visited close friends and siblings. Elgin loved family. He especially loved travelling with and/or otherwise visiting Marion and Stu, Lorraine and Vic, Randy and Nola and, of course, his children and grandchildren.

ALFRED HARRY HERBERT BELYEA
1949 – 2021
The family of Alfred “Alf” Belyea are saddened to announce his passing at the age of 72 years.
They want to celebrate the life of a hard-working, kind and dedicated family man.
He leaves to mourn his memory, his wife, Deborah; daughters, Trina, Robyn (Korey) and Jodi (Jason); grandchildren, Bryce, Sabin, Landon, Aeris, Amalia; sisters, Lillian and Eunice.
Alf was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lillian; sister, Florence.
Alf was born in Preeceville, SK and raised in Trail, BC.
Alf was an infinitely kind and dedicated father and family man. He started working for M & B on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), in the 1960’s and became skilled in almost every aspect of road construction. Later on, his family moved to Ontario, where he took on a road foreman position. They toughed it out for 4 years before returning “home" to Port Clements back on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). He was a road foreman for many years before expanding his already abundant amount of knowledge to take on the position of public works manager for the town of Port Clements. When his three daughters moved away, his wife and him started their new chapter and moved to Maple Creek, SK for retirement; only to move to Alberta a few years later. He was a steward of his community, serving as a Cypress County Councillor for Suffield for the past six years.
He loved helping people, and people loved him in return.
He deeply loved his family, especially his wife of more than 50 years, and his three daughters. His family of five were his world. He was always beyond excited to spend time with his grandchildren and always had time to listen and teach them things. He enjoyed fishing, darts, pool, and golfing with friends. There wasn’t anything Alf wouldn’t do for someone in need. If there was a chance to volunteer to better an experience for kids or his community, he was always the first to do so.
There will not be a funeral service. Condolences may be made at

JASPER LEE
June 13, 2021 – October 27, 2021
Jasper Martin Lee, treasured baby boy of Missy and Brendan Lee, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the age of four months. He will be remembered and forever loved by his siblings, Kenzie, Zenon and Atticus, by his grandparents, Bill and Jackie Lee and by his aunties Shauna, Kristin and Lynsey. Truly there are no words that could ever encapsulate such a sweet, smiley and loving boy. No words could justify who he was and who he’ll continue to be. Jasper will forever be the early sunrises full of bright colors and the moon that powerfully shines through the dark. He will continue to be the calm when things stand still, and be the wind that ruffles through the leaves. It’s difficult to find the right words to explain such a vibrant little being, who graced this world with his presence and his light. He was absolutely everything anyone could hope for, dream for, love. Jasper took pieces of our hearts when he left this earth, but truly we were the most blessed by the footprints he left behind. Everywhere we look, we will see his beauty, his color, his love, his charm. Everytime we close our eyes we’ll remember his softness, his heart, his eyes, his smile. He was so much more than a baby, he was a gift, a treasure living up to his name. Forever he will be missed, forever he will be loved. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:
