1928 – ALBERT HERRMANN – 2021

With gratitude and sadness, the family of Albert Herrmann announce his peaceful passing on Saturday October 23, 2021, just 82 days after Albert’s beloved wife Elma passed. His surviving children were at his side when he left this world. Albert was predeceased by his wife of over 65 years, Elma, in August 2021. He was also predeceased by his son Wayne Herrmann in April 2020. Albert is survived by his children Ronda Herrmann-Stickel (Gordon Stickel), Murray Herrmann (Corie Schock) and Marilyn Herrmann (John Stodalka). He leaves to cherish his memory seven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren: Cassandra Saubak and her daughter Eleanor; Travis Saubak, his wife Jenn Remai and children Hudson and Hannah; Chris Herrmann, his wife Katherine Herrmann and their children Madison, Lane and Harper; Ashley Herrmann and her friend Monty Ehret; Paul Stodalka and his friend, Kirsten Hill; Ty Herrmann and his friend Shelby Johnson and Bailey Herrmann and her friend Liam Morris; Brett Stickel, his friend Diana Clark and children Ryan and Dylan; Bryce Stickel, his wife Sara and children Levi and Payton; Erin Cornet, her husband Josh and their children Seth and Tully; Mark Stodalka, his wife Angela and their children Paige, Allison and Haylee and Drew Stodalka and his wife Avery.

Also surviving Albert are three sisters, Ella VanMaarion of Medicine Hat, Eva (Dave) Knock of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Bernice Gyorkos of Medicine Hat; three sisters-in-law, Pat Herrmann and Darlene Herrmann both of Medicine Hat, and Millie Desjardine of Grand Bend, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Herrmann and his siblings Victor Herrmann, Clarence Herrmann, Alfred (Marg) Herrmann, Denden Herrmann, Anne (Gilbert) Becker and Edward Herrmann and brothers-in-law Jack VanMaarion and Martin Gyorkos.

Albert was a devoted and loyal husband to Elma, a stern but supportive father and an easy going and kind grandfather. He was raised on the family farm in between Schuler and Medicine Hat and continued farming in the area when he ventured out on his own, with Elma at his side. He was hardworking and had a vision to create a home for his bride and eventually their children. Albert and Elma built a prosperous farming operation which has had an indelible impact on the lives of each one of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Albert made an attempt to retire from farming, but farmers like him never really retire. Even at 93, he was still interested in the crop, the weather, the prices of cattle at the sales and the new ways of farming.

Albert saved a number of quotes and sayings that were meaningful to him over the years. This one seemed to be most fitting of the life he built with Elma over the years:
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.

Albert and Elma came together in 1955 with hope and optimism. They stayed together for over 65 years. They worked together and made their life a success. They stood by each other through the good times and the hard times. Albert’s descendants are ever so grateful for the foundation they built and the legacy they left.

For family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory.
