1946 ~ GARY W. GORAN ~ 2021

Gary W. Goran of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully, surrounded by special friends, on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at the age of 75 years. After Gary’s retirement as an ordained minister, he began a new chapter as a Life Celebrant at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel. Gary purposely connected with people and every family that he served was important to him. His life and his words impacted countless people along his journey through life. He was charming, steady, faithful, and humorous; and was gifted with an infectious laugh. His memory will be held dearly by those lives he touched and by those who loved him. 1950 ~ DEBORAH LYNNE ASHTON ~ 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Deborah "Debbie" Lynne Ashton on October 14, 2021 from heart complications. Debbie was born October 6, 1950 in Windsor, Ontario to Francis and Carol Belleperche. Unfortunately, she was predeceased by her beloved great-grandson, Ayzac Wilson; and grandsons, Allan C. Faulkner and Daxton Woods. Debbie has left behind a very extensive family including her loving husband of 54 years, Harry Ashton; their three daughters, Lorna Faulkner (Allan F), Daphne Ashton, and Kimberly Ashton (Terry B); grandchildren, Krystal Shipley (Mohamed K), Karyle-Anne Wehowsky (Dave W), Brittany Faulkner (Frisk S), Harry Woods (Kalyn W), Emma Woods (Chance P), Louis Ashton, Chase Pardy, and Harmony Pardy. Debbie will also be dearly missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. A private family graveside service was held at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery on Sunday, October 17, 2021. DON MEGYESI

1942 ~ 2021

Donald J. Megyesi passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his sister, Brenda (Mick) Webb and niece, Jennifer Webb. Don was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Lillian Megyesi and a twin brother in infancy. Don was confined to a wheelchair for the greater part of his life but he never complained, just adjusted and carried on. He was an inspiration to all as he was brave, thoughtful, kind, loving and had a wonderful sense of humour. Don’s faith was strong and helped him cope with some of life’s difficult moments. He will be missed but it is comforting to know he is finally free of earthly constraints and resides in Heaven with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Special thanks to the staff at River Ridge for their compassionate care over the years. Don will be silently remembered by his family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. KNIBBS, Kalvin

June 22, 1970 – Bow Island, Alberta
October 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Kalvin Knibbs, beloved husband of Yvonne, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the age of 51 years.
Kalvin loved sports, sports and more sports. He loved playing hockey from a very young age all the way through to the WHL. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports, mainly hockey – especially his favorite team the New York Rangers. He was a volunteer with the Calgary Minor Hockey Association for a number of years where he developed many new friendships. He was always so proud and loved watching Colby and Bret play all of the sports they took part in. Kalvin will be most remembered for his willingness to always help family and friends and for taking the time to teach others various skills such as using tools, fixing cars and anything sports related.
Kalvin leaves his loving wife Yvonne, daughter Colby and son Bret; brothers, Robin (Connie) and Carey (Helga); as well as a long list of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Kalvin was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Maxine Knibbs; brother Blaine, sister Judy Ann Dyer and nephew Troy.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.
