1928 ~ FLORENCE COWAN ~ 2021
Florence Helen (nee Meidinger). We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loving family Matriarch on July 3, 2021. Mom was born on October 29, 1928 in Olds, Alberta, as the second of six children. She grew up in Bassano Alberta, married her soul mate Ralph on April 30th, 1950, and later that year moved to Medicine Hat. Mom had various jobs but was proudest of her years as a sales clerk at SS Kresge downtown. After her retirement mom and dad became snowbirds and traveled south with friends and family. Family meant everything to Mom and she freely shared her love with everyone. She was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed having company. She was a very proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother (GG). She was a tireless supporter of her family’s accomplishments and endeavours whether they be athletic, artistic, scholastic, or career. She was a loyal friend and confidant to all who knew her.
Mom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary and regularly volunteered selling poppies. She also served as a member of the Eastern Star. She canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society and was a willing worker whenever approached for help.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Wellington Cowan, her son Ralph Wellington Jr., a daughter-in-law Peggi, her parents Albert and Rosie Meidinger, her brother Norman Art Meidinger, sisters Verna Cotton, and Doris Evans as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her three sons, Glenn, Dale (Melisa) all of Medicine Hat and Roger (Cathy) of Brooks; her grandchildren, Jerredi (Joshua) Hauck, Teigen (Blain) Dobbin, Grayden (Katelynn) Cowan, Carsen (Chelsea) Kendel, Jordan Kendel and Molly Kendel; her precious great grandchildren, Iveryn Hauck, Eraley Hauck, Aysin Dobbin and Parker Kendel; her sisters Lorraine Shaw of Calgary and Ruth (Stan) Lassister of Bassano.
At her request there will be no formal funeral service but immediate family will gather for an interment at Hillside Cemetery at a later date. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:

He met Mimi shortly after and married her in 1967. They moved several times, the last move being to Medicine Hat where they raised their two sons. Brother John and George formed Central Upholstery where they were in business together until retirement. George made many friends, but no one was more loved than his family. A sports enthusiast, George also enjoyed classic cars (Fords) and singing in the choir. He was an expert craftsman, lover of truth and justice, an honest communicator, and never duplicitous. OLINDA "MICKEY' TREIBER
1922 ~ 2021
Our family is saddened to announce Mom's passing, on Sunday, July 4 2021 at the age of 98 years, beloved wife of the late Jacob Treiber. Leaving to mourn her passing are three children, Millie (Harvey) Moch and their children, Leon (Viv) , Jackie (Cory Schell), and Delvin (Verna); Sheila Rumberg and her children Brian (Shelley), and Crystal Webster; Lyle (Leslie) and children Murray, Teri and Kale; eleven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by husband Jack in 2009, son-in-law Robert (Butch) in 2012, and thirteen siblings.
After a month long courtship, Mom and Dad were married February 28, 1940. They settled on the Treiber homestead, where they began their wedded lives. They welcomed daughters, Millie and Sheila to their family. In 1958, they moved into a new home that had the luxuries of running water and electricity, and later that year welcomed the arrival of their son Lyle.
Mom kept busy, with church activities, sports (especially curling), cooking, sewing, and many days helping on the farm. In 1973, they moved to Medicine Hat, at which time, she went to work and got her first pay check! Once in town they made many new friends – lots of card games, shuffleboard, dancing, and camping. In 1998, they moved on to condo life, which they thoroughly enjoyed with all the social activities.
In 2012, Mom moved into Chinook Village. Due to declining health she then moved to Good Sams where she resided until her passing. At this time we would like to thank the staff for all the care they provided for Mom, and for everything they did for her family.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Friday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Drive SE) on Friday July 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Roland Weisbrot and Chaplain Dallas Hjorth officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to remember Mickey with a donation, may do so to the Alzheimers Society.
