1924 ~ HELEN BAYER ~ 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Bayer (nee Shapka) announce her passing on June 26th, 2021 at the age of 97 years. Helen was born and raised in Alberta, in Albert Park, which later became part of Calgary. She was born on May 19th, 1924 to John and Ann Shapka; in the house which still stands today. In the 1940’s, Helen married Zyg Burnett and moved to the Iddesleigh area, where they farmed and lived together with their son, Gary, until Zyg’s death in the 1960’s. Later, she met and married Ed Bayer; they made their home in Medicine Hat and enjoyed many years together. Helen was very interested and active in bowling, BINGO, cooking and gardening. She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Zig Burnett and Ed Bayer; son, Gary Burnett; brothers, George Shapka and Johnny Shapka; and sister, Katherine. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her older brother, Steve; younger sister, Isabelle; nephews, John Shapka and Douglas Shapka; seven great-nephews and nieces; and 13 great-great nephews and nieces. She will be missed by all her family as well as by her many friends. The Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Gershaw Dr SW & 10 Ave SW, Medicine Hat, AB, on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bob Church officiating. 1942 ~ BEVERLEY MALLEY ~ 2021

Beverley Malley of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the age of 78 years with her husband, Denis by her side. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Denis; son, Shaun (Rita); daughter-in-law, Josephine; four grandchildren, Troy, Brandon, Vincent (Courtney), Travis (Amber); three great grandchildren, Landon, Emma and Mya. Beverley was predeceased by her parents, Wilbert and Alice Cox; two sons, Kevin and Roger. The Memorial Service will take place at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend. 1950 ~ ALVINA STABLER ~ 2021

Alvina Jean Stabler of Redcliff passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the age of 71 years, beloved wife of the late Arthur “Jim” Stabler. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Jim Stabler (Carla Wagenaar) of Redcliff, Rhonda (Terry) Blacquier of Desert Blume, and Collin (Donna-Lee) Stabler of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren, Dylan (Melissa), Brett, Rylan, Tyson, Cory (Sabrina), Kodi (Chynna), Brittany, and Colby (Nikki); fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Naudia) and Walter all of Medicine Hat; one sister-in-law, Doris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Beata Seefried; her husband, Jim Stabler on September 12, 2012; six brothers, Ralph, Jack, Christian, Harold, Carl, and Jimmy; and her sister, Helen. It is with great sadness that Fay Lloyd, loving wife of Mr. William (Bill) Lloyd, announces his death at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 83 years. NORMAN CHUEN

1936 – 2021
NORMAN CHUEN, passed away unexpectedly in Medicine Hat, AB on June 25, 2021.
Norman was born February 10, 1936 in Bow Island, AB where he lived until he moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta. The youngest of eight children, Norman was the only one of his siblings to attend university, graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1960.
From 1960-1963 Norman lived in Pincher Creek, AB where he worked for Cornyn Pharmacy. In 1963 he moved to Medicine Hat, AB where he worked as both a pharmacist and manager for Crestwood Pharmacy for 40 years before retiring in 2004. Norman, or as his customers knew him “Norm”, will be remembered for the service he provided and his willingness to give advice and assistance.
Throughout his life, Norman was an avid traveler and had a passion for learning about other cultures. During his lifetime he travelled to six of the seven continents and visited 45 countries. One of his most memorable trips was visiting his ancestral village in China and being able to walk on the Great Wall. Norman’s passion for travelling continued well into his retirement and was only halted by the recent pandemic. In addition to the friends he made while travelling Norman will also be missed by his many colleagues and friends in Medicine Hat.
Norman was predeceased by his parents Sun and Bow Sim Chuen; sisters, Irene, Helen, Mary and Hazel; brothers, Harry and George; and brothers-in-law John Fong and Lorne Fong.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his sister Violet Fong and her family: Larry (Angela) and family, Gary (Denise) Fong and family, Donald (Deb) Fong and family, Randy Fong and family, Daryl Fong, Rodney Fong and Valerie Fong; and the family of his late sister Hazel Fong: Linda Fong (Binx) Selby and family, James (Linda) Fong and family, David (Anwen) and family, Shari (Dennis) Boisvert and family, Chris (Janelle) Fong and family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, Medicine Hat, AB. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Lethbridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.

TERRY GEORGE

1955 ~ 2021

It is with a heavy heart that Gail announces the sudden passing of her beloved husband, Terry William George. He passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 65 years. Terry will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Chance; daughter, Teresa (Gerald); grandchildren, Tre and Easton; brothers, Tony and David as well as his niece, Megan. He was predeceased by his parents, Eben and Betty. Terry was a member of the Redcliff Legion. He was a journeyman insulator in his younger years and most recently was a ranch hand. Terry was a special friend to many people. His sense of humour and his loving and caring nature will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. A private celebration will be held.
