1945 – DONALD DIRK – 2021
Donald Earl Dirk passed away peacefully on June 18, 2021, surrounded by his beloved family. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Shane (Nancy) Dirk and Troy Dirk; twin sister Diane (Murray) McCartney; granddaughters Krystal Dirk and Theresa Dirk (Morgan Carnelli); great grandson, Rowan Carnelli, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Meeting Don on the other side are his beloved wife Darlene, dog Suzie, parents Herman Dirk and Celestine “Sally” Winder, as well as brothers Mike Dirk and Joe Dirk. Born June 17, 1945, Don spent many years on the family farm in Fox Valley before moving wherever the job would take him. He would fondly recall the locations visited, and would share the memories of his travels with his family. He met his best friend Darlene and they were married in 1965. When days off rolled around he enjoyed taking his wife and sons on their own outdoor camping trips; something he continued to do with the addition of his granddaughters. He gained much enjoyment from his granddaughters and frequently encouraged or joined in on many of their antics. When not spending time with his family, Don was usually busy on the lake or golf course, building wooden puzzles or working in his garden. He took great pride in his home and yard, knowing it would be the site of many fond memories and milestones. The family will be holding a private service and celebration of life in accordance with Don’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carmel Hospice (St. Joseph’s Home) c/o 156 – 3 St. NE, Medicine Hat, T1A 5M1. Their care during his final says provided great comfort to both Don and his family. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:
