1923 ~ ROSINA FETTIG ~ 2021 Rose (Rosina) Fettig of Medicine Hat passed peacefully on April 24, 2021 at the age of 97 years. 1935 ~ ELLA BRATVOLD ~ 2021 Ella Bratvold of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Floyd Bratvold, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years. Her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of her children, Wes (Sue), Norman, Nora (Tim), Dale (Yvonne), Marlene and Lori; her much loved grandchildren, Cari (Tyler), Kevin, Tyler (Sydney), Scott, Amber (Jessie), Amber, Tanner (Luella), and Rylan; six great-grandchildren; sister, Colleen Tessier; brother-in-law, Lynn (Shirley) Bratvold; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd; a child in infancy; parents, John and Marion Confrey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gunnar and Kalma Bratvold, and brother-in-law, David Tessier. Mom was born on the farm in the Ileburn district in southern Saskatchewan. She grew up in the area and married Dad on October 15th, 1958 and they shared 59 years together. Together they ran the Lucky Dollar Store in Simmie, SK, for numerous years until moving to Medicine Hat in 1978. Mom worked at Sears for a few years and later worked in housekeeping at the Medicine Hat Hospital for several years before her retirement. She was very athletic when she was young, winning provincial championships in track and field and a known “Home-Run Star” in softball. She also enjoyed curling and in her later years you could find her and dad relaxing and enjoying it on TV. Mom was always happiest when her house was filled with the laughter of children and the total chaos that went with it. A special thanks to all the staff at Riverview Care Centre for the exceptional care they provided for mom. “Rest in Peace Mom. We love you and will carry you in our hearts forever.” A private family graveside service will be held at SAAMIS PRAIRIE VIEW CEMETERY. BRUCE BRANDT 1938 – 2021 Bruce D. Brandt passed away on Friday, May 7 , 2021, at the age of 83 years after a short illness. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Elaine; son, Dean Brandt and daughter, Holly (Matthew) Lomheim; sister, Betty Brandt; niece, Shelley (Mike) Merhi; great nephews, Merhi and Shadee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Donna Holley; niece, Marni Holley; nephew, Mark Holley; his honourary grandchildren, Aaron and Jordan Weimer as well as numerous cousins in Canada and the United States. Bruce was predeceased by his mother, Dora Brandt and in-laws, Edward (Eda) Holley. He was born in Medicine Hat on January 14, 1938, and grew up in Irvine, AB. Bruce spent his early years playing baseball and curling and enjoying the company of his many close friends. After attending the University of Alberta, he started his teaching career in Bindloss, AB. While teaching junior high school students, Bruce met and then married fellow teacher, Elaine Holley on August 20, 1966, in Medicine Hat. His years in Bindloss were very happy ones and Bruce remained connected to the community and the friendships he made there long after he moved to Medicine Hat in 1967. That move started a new chapter in his life as he began teaching at Riverside School and then was promoted to Principal of Montreal Street School. During this time, Bruce completed his Education Diploma, Bachelor and Master degrees in Education at the University of Calgary. He later taught at Connaught School, served as Acting Assistant Superintendent for one year and finished his 38 year teaching career at Ross Glen School. Bruce was active in his service to his profession and really enjoyed socializing with his peers. He enjoyed teaching and interacting with the children, parents and volunteers at school. Bruce was fair and kind and liked nothing better than telling a good story or joke. During summer vacations, as well as in his retirement, he made time to volunteer for the Alberta Senior Games. Bruce loved playing golf and watching hockey with his good friends as well as spending time with the Weimer boys. He made friends easily due to his good nature and great sense of humour. Bruce spent many happy hours at the Veiner Centre visiting and laughing with his old and new friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. FORREST CHERET 1953 – 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Forrest Cornell Guy Cheret announce his passing on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 at the age of 67.
Forrest will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Chris (Sara), Guy (Chelsey) and Paul; his grandchildren, Devyn, Aiden, Allye and Connor; his mother, Leona; brothers, Armand (Sharon) and Dollard; sister, Zo (Bill); step-brother, Thomas (Gladys) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Paul; step-brother, Larry and step-sister, Pauline.
Forrest definitely had the gift of gab and a love of the Montreal Canadiens. Everyone that knew Forrest appreciated his quick wit and sense of humour.
The family would like to thank the staff at Haven View for the wonderful care he received. By request and due to covid restrictions, there will be no formal service at this time. A celebration of Forrest’s life will be announced at a later date.

LARRY JESSE 1949 – 2021 It is with an extremely heavy heart that Linda announces the passing of her beloved husband, Larry Herbert Jesse. He passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the age of 72 years. Larry was born on January 15, 1949, in Lampman, Saskatchewan to proud parents, Herbert and Alma Jesse. He grew up in Frobisher, SK., alongside his sisters, Leona, Shirley, Lorraine and little brother, Dennis. Life wasn’t always easy for Larry as his Mom passed away when he was only five years old. His sisters became his mother and took wonderful care of him. Larry met the love of his life, Linda when he was 18 and she was 15. They were anxious to start a life together and got married in 1969. Larry got a job in the Alberta oilfields and then moved to Calgary for a few years. They later settled in Medicine Hat where they established long, deep roots within the community and established the ‘Jesse Clan’ with their three children, Kent, Todd and Christy. Larry worked tirelessly to provide for his family. A hardworking and dedicated man, his family was never lacking food or a comfortable home to live in. Larry was an entrepreneurial spirit, incredibly creative and industrious as his career grew within the oil services sector. Larry had a successful career and rewarded it through with his family. In the early 1980’s, Larry purchased a lot at White Bear Lake in Saskatchewan and built a cabin for his family. He was especially proud of his large deck so they could hold large gatherings with family and friends. Always a cold beer, good conversation and lots of laughs were shared with family and friends. The Jesse family spent their summers and a few Christmas seasons at this treasured retreat, creating years of memories for his family. Chief of the BBQ can’t even describe Larry’s passion for the grill… his steaks were legendary! The secret was to buy a good meat, use a quality butcher and always… always blend your own spice and rubs. Larry was a Papa to his three pride and joys, his grandchildren, Brooke, Courtney and Katelin with whom he created memories with these girls that will last their lifetime. He loved woodworking with his girls and always had a smile and a hug for them. He taught them that popsicles are best served before breakfast at Papa’s house and he always had a mischievous grin on his face when the parents would try to scold him… Oh, how he loved his girls! Larry Herbert Jesse was the patriarch of the family. His love, generosity, dedication and most importantly the memories he created will live on forevermore through his family. As Larry battled against cancer, his largest fear was leaving his wife of 51 years alone. He can now rest in peace knowing Linda will be cared for by his family and that he is now reunited with his Mom and his family in the skies above. Along with his beloved wife, Linda Elaine Jesse (nee Fieber), Larry is survived by their three children, Kent Jesse, Todd Jesse and Christy (Jason) Wheeldon; three granddaughters, Brooke, Courtney and Katelin; sisters, Lorraine and Shirley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert; mother, Alma (nee Folkerts); brother, Dennis and his sister, Leona.
