ANDREW JAMES THOMAS

1928 ~ 2021
Andrew Thomas of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the age of 92 years, beloved husband of the late Amelia Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Shane, Perry (Marcy), and Shirley (Alf) Rock; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, Meghan (Tom; Broody, Morgan); Mallory (Allyson); Patrick (Margaret; Daphne, Felicia, Hailey, Payton, Abigail, Elizabeth); Reneé (Kyler; Kanein, Madison); Johnathan (Melissa); Billy; Wesley; three sisters, Kay, Vicki and Ann. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Thomas; his wife Amelia on March 13, 2021, son Wayne, daughter-in-law Noreen, grandson Andrew, and six siblings. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery with Life Celebrant, Pat Grisonich. JOHN LAYTON

May 15, 1924 – April 25, 2021

Mr. John Lewis Layton passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the age of 96 years. He was born and raised in Medicine Hat and spent his youth living on the homestead in Elkwater where he continued to spend nearly every summer growing up. As a young man, John enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and worked in Radio Communications making it his career for 25 years before being discharged as a Chief Petty Officer, First Class. John then started working for AGT Phone Company (Telus) until his retirement. He loved painting, cooking, baking and canning. In his leisure, John enjoyed reading, fishing and travelling with Myra. A most memorable vacation with Myra was through the Panama Canal which made a great impression on John. He also enjoyed the many Legion activities and served as President of Branch 17. Man’s best friend was his pet dog, Ben, who went everywhere with him. John’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of his children, Barbara (Phil), Drew (Viola) and Bruce (Holly); grandchildren, Dawn Guindon, Mitchell Layton and Brayden Layton; great-grandchild, Jamie Byrne as well as his sister, Betty-Jean Maddaford. John was predeceased by his spouses, Ardythe Layton, Eileen Layton and Myra Anderson; parents, Cecil and Emily Layton; brothers, Doug, Hugh and Ernie as well as his granddaughters, Elizabeth Bergstrom and Jaylyn Layton. Due to COVID – 19 restrictions, the Funeral Celebration will be by invitation only. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Cpt. Ron MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Field of Honour at Hillside Cemetery. KUNDERT, Karl

November 3, 1929 – Hilda, Alberta
April 24, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Karl Kundert of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the age of 91 years.
Karl is survived by his son Kelvin Kundert of Vancouver, BC, two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Larry Monaghan of Calgary, AB, and Betty and Allan Torsky of Vancouver, BC; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends. Karl was predeceased by his wife Lorene Kundert (nee Frey), son Larry Kundert, mother Magdelina Kundert (nee Maser), father Henry Kundert, five brothers, John Kundert, Christian Kundert, Theodore Kundert, Jack Kundert and William Kundert; and three sisters, Carrie Stuart, Ella Neubauer and Clara Neubauer.
A Private Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Kundert’s service streamed live at https://mhfh.com/tribute/details/33018/Karl-KUNDERT/obituary.html#tribute-start on the day of the service. Luc Généreux

1957 ~ 2021

Luc Joseph Paul Généreux passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Monday, April 26, 2021, at the age of 63 years. Along with his beloved wife, Audrey, Luc will be lovingly remembered by Audrey’s children (whom Luc considered his own), daughter, Lori Millington and son, Gerrit Kruitbosch; grandchildren “his boys”, Cruz Millington and Roman Kruitbosch; his mother, Suzanne Généreux who is 99 years young; brother, Pierre (Wanda); sisters, Danielle (Andre) and Louise (Dale); sister-in-law, Carol (Al); brother-in-law, Doug (Mary) as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to Luc. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Généreux; Audrey’s parents, Cec and Marj Staples and brother-in-law, Duncan Staples. Luc will be forever remembered and sadly missed!
