1938 ~ ROSEMARY SAILER ~ 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rosemary Sailer on January 22, 2021. Rosemary was the beloved wife of Eugene (Gene) Sailer; loving mother to Nancy (Jim) Burgess, Wayne (Carrie Berthelette) Rossler, Scott Rossler, Greg Rossler; sister Mary Brettle of Hanna; as well as her dedicated dog Mandy. Rosemary was born July 19, 1938 in Hanna, Alberta and grew up on the family farm in the Lone Butte area. After graduation, she worked in Hanna Alberta as an Administration Assistant until marrying her first husband, Chester Rossler, at which time they relocated to Vancouver, BC. It was here where their daughter, Nancy and sons, Wayne and Scott were born. In 1966, the family moved to Medicine Hat. In 1968, their youngest son, Greg was born completing their family. Mom stayed home to raise her family only returning to work when her youngest was in High School. She worked as a Teachers Aid and then for the ATA in both the Public and Separate school systems until she retired. In July of 1989, she married Gene Sailer and they moved to a small farm outside of Medicine Hat. These were some of their happiest times being back on a farm. In June of 2007 they left the farm to move back to Medicine Hat. Rosemary loved reading and playing Scrabble and Rummoli. She loved to garden taking special pride in her flowerbeds, vegetables and her rose garden. She also enjoyed feeding the birds in her yard year round. Spending time with her family was her most cherished pastime and we all enjoyed our time with her just as much. Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Margaret Owens and her brother, Tom Owens Jr. and his common- law wife, Mary Thuroo. As per her wishes the family will hold a private interment service at a later date. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre of Medicine Hat and the AHS Homecare and all the other palliative and support teams that made it possible to keep Mom at home so we could be with her during her final days. We would like to extend a special thank you to Cara, Jamie and Debbie from Home Care as mom took great comfort in your loving care.
