1927 – REV. ARTHUR ZELLER – 2021

Rev. Arthur, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday January 2, 2021 at the age of 93 years, beloved husband of Annettte Zeller for 51 ½ years. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter: son, Darrell (Bonnie) Zeller of Medicine Hat and Darrell’s children, Adam Zeller and Kristen Zeller (Tyler Gordon and their daughter Stella); daughter, Carol (Wayne) Kopchia and their children Michelle (Zacharias) Geib and Jason Kopchia (Lindsay Clarkson) of Calgary; and Annette’s sister Betty Byrne of Gilbert, Arizona. Arthur was predeceased by his parents Christina and John Zeller Sr., his daughter-in-law Margaret Zeller in 2007; his brothers, John Jr. (Lillian), Ernest (Ellenore); sisters, Erna (Kenneth) Edwards, Leona (Gordon) Weidman; his first wife Leona (Ries) in 1966, and by two daughters in infancy, Sandra and Cynthia. Arthur was born on July 26, 1927 in Paris, Romania, then immigrated to Canada that year with his parents to live in the Golden Prairie district of Saskatchewan. In his teens, Arthur went to Edmonton to C.T.I. to complete his education. He then went on to Sioux Falls North American Baptist Seminary. After that, he was Ordained into the Ministry and served various churches in Saskatchewan and Alberta. After his wife’s passing, he took a nursing course and became a Registered Nursing Orderly, serving on the Riverview Nursing Home in Medicine Hat for 7 ½ years. It was around this time he met and married Annette Farquharson and they married July 19, 1969. Later he took employment with the Medicine Hat Travelodge for 10 ½ years as their building Maintenance Manager. During this time he began to have health problems and had an Angioplasty and could not return to work, so began his time helping to raise his grandchildren, which he loved and enjoyed every day of. Art also loved his garden and every spring couldn’t wait to see it grow. His hobbies were fishing and golfing but the love of his life was his children and grandchildren and great granddaughter Stella. He also continued to serve as pastor whenever called upon to fill the pulpit. He enjoyed travelling with his wife for many years. They enjoyed camping years, visiting relatives, making new friends and catching up with old friends. We will miss him forever, but God will take care of him and some day we will meet again in Heaven. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday evening between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Masks are mandatory) Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jamie McDonald and Pastor Michael Deibert co-officiating. 1930 ~ BONOGOFSKI ~ 2021

Barbara Bonogofski, beloved wife of Peter Bonogofski of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband at Age Care Valleyview on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the age of 90 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Ann (Larry) Flaig of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, and Betty Ann Bugg of Lethbridge, Alberta; her grandchildren, Justin (Jackie) Bugg of Lethbridge and their children Heston and Holden, Jennifer Bugg (Jamie Arnold) of Coaldale and their children Reese and Linden. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Kurtz; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Magdalena Kurtz; her daughter, Patty Bonogofski; her son-in-law, Terry Bugg; her siblings; as well as extended family members. Mom enjoyed gardening, especially when it came to her flowers and tomatoes. Family and friends enjoyed coffee and mom’s delicious dishes that she would serve up in no time at all. The grandchildren and great grandchildren put a smile on her face, a skip in her step, and warmed her heart. Mom fought hard the last few years, but chose to join her daughter, Patty in Heaven. She has become an angel for those who need her. We will hear her Hail Mary’s whispered gently for all! Thank you to the staff of Age Care Valleyview for the care and support mom received and dad continues to receive. DEL MUDRACK

May 15, 1935 ~ January 9, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of Odelia ‘Del’ Theresa Marie Mudrack, announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the age of 85 years. Del was born to proud parents Tony and Marie Mercier on May 15, 1935, and raised in Ponteix, SK. She married Nick Mudrack in Edmonton on September 3, 1960. They had four sons and a daughter and have resided in Redcliff for the past number of years. Del’s Catholic faith was very important to her and she faithfully attended church weekly. Her children and grandchildren were very special to her and she always enjoyed their visits. She loved going to bingo, time spent at the casino, tending to her garden and nurturing her household plants. Mom’s message to everyone was to “Enjoy Life”. The family would like to thank Home Care, Dr. Motzi, Dr. Jeraj and the nurses and staff with St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice for their care of Del over these past number of months. Family also extend a very special thank you to Stephanie Gyorkos for her love and attention to Del’s needs over the years. The family would like to extend their graditude to Eileen, Kelley and Peggy for their help with mom. Del is survived by her sons, David, Dennis, Jamie and Tom; grandchildren; David’s children, Josh, Jordan and Damon; Susan’s children, Zoe, Rain and her son, Jairus; Jamie’s children, Joel, Jay and Aubri; siblings, Terry (John) Fafard, Joe (Jeanne) Mercier, Lu (Jim) Gunther, Ray (Denise) Mercier and Anne (Mike) Noel as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Valentine Hoffner of Medicine Hat, AB, beloved husband of Anna Hoffner, passed away on Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at the age of 90 years surrounded by family. Val leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Anna; children, Sharon Cartwright, Brian (Shirley) Hoffner, Charlotte (Dale) Roberts, Harvey (Janice) Hoffner, Linda (Pat) Friesen, Corinne Hoffner, Dale (Sandra) Hoffner, Donna Hoffner, Randy (Margo) Hoffner, Colleen (Scott) Wilson; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances DeBoer; Helen Leismeister; and Irene Hoffner; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Hoffner; brothers, Johnny, Adam, and Martin; sisters, Phyllis Hoffman, Mildred Heinz, Anna Volk, and Katie Wendalen. Valentine farmed at Liebanthal, SK with his wife, Anna, by his side from 1954 to 1994 before making Medicine Hat their home. It was at that time, that Valentine started playing slow pitch which he loved doing. When he retired from the game at age 83, it did not stop Valentine and Anna from going down and watching games every night. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, BINGO, and dancing with Anna. He will be greatly missed by all. The Funeral Service will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE MEDICINE HAT, AB T1B 4V3, on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Rodel Abanto officiating.
