1931 ~ ELEANOR ALBRECHT ~ 2020
It is with both sadness for our loss, and a sense of relief for the end of her suffering, that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Eleanor Albrecht. Eleanor, beloved wife of the late, Carl Albrecht Jr., passed away on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory her son, Darrell (Kendra) Albrecht; daughter, Maretta Evans (Brad Hemstreet); grandchildren, Marni Evans (Lance Bradley), Ardeth Evans (Steve Potter) and their son, Samuel; Raegan (Rob) Angstadt and their children, Vega, Anya, Gavin, Tanner and Rhone; Tyler (Joy) Albrecht and their children, Jace and Alina; and Landis (Danelle) Albrecht and their daughter, Brinlee; brothers, Norman (Loretta) Glass, Robert Glass, and Art (Frieda) Glass; brothers-in-law, Ernest Albrecht and Marvin (Alvena) Albrecht; and sister-in-law, Shirley Albrecht; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Carl; parents, Frank and Mary Glass, and eight siblings. Eleanor was born and grew up in the Fox Valley District. She married Carl Albrecht Jr. in 1950. They farmed in the Mendham/Richmound area until semi- retiring to Burstall, and then moving to Medicine Hat. Eleanor lived for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was their biggest fan and applauded their every accomplishment, big and small. She was an active part of their childhood and together with her husband, Carl, loved to give them experiences that only the farm could provide, like hatching chicks and tractor rides with grandpa. She could drive truck and shovel grain with the best of them. Eleanor was consummate homemaker, lovingly providing her family with delicious meals and baked goods, a beautifully decorated, immaculately clean home, and big love…lots of it! The church and her faith in God were always a big part of her life. She loved all things growing and green, and spent the summer nurturing her flower beds and her enormous vegetable garden. Eleanor had a natural creative talent and an eye for colour and design. Whether she was planning a reno, designing a new home, a new landscape, sewing graduation or wedding gowns, knitting or writing poetry, she did it all with enthusiasm, joy, and excellence. She taught adult education classes in dressmaking, tailoring, and draperies through the University of Saskatchewan. Her classes were very popular and as with everything else she did, she put 100% of herself into it, helping her students get the most of the class. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Monday, August 10th, 2020 with Pastor Jim Bredeson officiating. Memorial gifts in Eleanor's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 201, 770 – 6th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4J6 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent through
