1934 – HOEFMAN – 2020

Jochem “Joe” Hoefman passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the age of 86 years, beloved husband of the late Aly Hoefman. He leaves to cherish his memory their four children, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Joe will be missed by his extended family in both Canada and Holland. He was predeceased by his parents Jentje and Reint Hoefman; his wife Aly on January 20, 2010; his brother Anne; two sisters, Hennie and Femie; five brother-in-laws, Evert, Siep, Herman, Wibo and Jan; two sister-in-laws, Ineke and Willie . Joe and his bride, Aly came to Canada for their honeymoon in the mid 1950’s and it continued for the next 54 years. After moving from British Columbia, they settled in Redcliff where Joe worked at Goodyear as an operator for over 30 years before retiring in 1993. Joe enjoyed the outdoors with camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening as his favourite pastimes. In his retirement, Joe and Aly enjoyed going to visit their homeland of Holland, as well as a few trips to Hawaii and Mexico. After Aly’s passing, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, and his sidekick, Toby. As per Joe’s request, a private funeral has taken place. 1934 ~ GUALBERTO PIMENTEL ~ 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gualberto Pimentel, beloved husband for 62 years of the late Lucia Pimentel, on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. GWEN (KRISTIANSON) CLARKE

January 16, 1930 ~ February 1, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Gweneth Clarke announces her passing at South Country Village, Medicine Hat on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the age of 90 years. Gwen was born on January 16, 1930, and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She worked as a bar maid at the Redcliff Legion and then for the Town Office in Brooks until her retirement. Gwen loved knitting, crocheting, the Calgary Flames and watching her children and grand-children in sports. She was an avid dart player and participated in many tournaments over the years. Gwen battled with Alzheimers and has been a resident in care homes for the past 15 years, with the last 12 years at South Country Village, where the residence and staff became her second family. Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her children, Carol (Terry)  Baron, Debbie (Larry) Goldade, Tim Kristianson, Bill Kristianson; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grand- children and three great-great-grandchildren. Gwen was pre-deceased by her parents, Sidney and Mary Cutforth; her first husband, Clarence Kristianson and her second husband, Bernard Clarke. Gwen’s life will be honoured with a Celebration of Life at a late date. JIM HALAND

October 29, 1943 ~ January 30, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of James Carl Haland announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Jim will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Vivian; son, Kyle (Kristin) Haland and their children, Aria and Merritt; his first born children, Lynn Haland (Wesley Paul), Stuart (Kim) Haland, Tracy Haland and their respective families. Jim was an educator for 31 years with the Medicine Hat Public School Division, Prince Rupert School District and the Bonnyville School Division. In addition to teaching, he was an active community member of the Connaught Golf Club, the Medicine Hat Curling Club and the Medicine Hat Alano Social Club. Jim was also involved as a volunteer with the Alberta Summer Games, Southern and Provincial Track and Field and Medicine Hat Little League Baseball. His passions included teaching, baseball, golf, curling, watching all sports on TV, gardening , smoking cigars and telling jokes. The Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. STENHOUSE

Archibald ‘Archie’ Stenhouse of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the age of 96 years, beloved husband of the late Pearl Stenhouse. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Don (Linda) Stenhouse, Marilyn (Gerald) Schneider, Hazel (Harvey) Reuer, Mary Townsend and Rob (Genny) Stenhouse; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his sister, Kathleen Moss as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Stenhouse; his wife Pearl on November 15, 2012; one son-in-law, Wayne Townsend; three grandchildren, Naomi, Brent and Brad Stenhouse; four sisters, Mary McLellan, Jean McCaig, Margaret Wager and Georgie Fields; and his brother, Joe Stenhouse.
