HARRISON
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret “Maggie” Elaine Harrison (Sparrow) wish to announce her passing on October 4, 2019, surrounded by love and with her family. Maggie is predeceased by her mother (Joan), her father (Harold), and her soulmate Sidney. She is survived by her children Morgan (Jen), Mel (Jana), Sarah (Michael), Connor and Evan; her grandchildren Aubrey, Blake, Owen, Nora, Ethan and Evelyn; her sister Tricia (Brad) Leidal; her sister-in-law Penny Holst and brothers-in-law Gary and Wayne (Brenda). Maggie was born and raised in Medicine Hat as the eldest daughter to Joan and Harold. She spent her childhood loving and tormenting her younger sister Tricia, but found her path when she met Sid in 1974. They married in 1979 and their grand adventure began shortly thereafter when they started their family and welcomed Morgan into their lives. Maggie was the consummate mother and happily grew her family to include Sarah, Connor, Evan and Mel. While Sid was in medical school, Maggie worked long hours to support the family, but also sewed clothes, bargain hunted and did everything she could to keep those difficult years as positive as possible. Maggie’s ultimate joy was in becoming a grandmother. Whether through making gingerbread houses together or a trip to Police Point Park for Easter eggs and bunnies, Maggie loved carving out special time with her six grandchildren. She loved their time together almost as much as she loved spoiling them. Our family cannot begin to find words to thank the many members of Maggie’s care team. Dr. Adeel Azam, Dr. Tom Mohanraj, Dr. Gerry Prince and Dr. Josh Foley showed Maggie such exceptional compassion and care, it was an amazing comfort to our family tosee her in such good hands. A special thanks as well to the many wonderful nurses on unit 5 East at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Finally, thank you to Maggie’s many friends who reached out to help Maggie during her illness with kind words, good company or sometimes just taking out the garbage. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Ronald McDonald House or the charity of your choice. The funeral service will be held in Westminster United Church (101 6th Street SE) on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pollard officiating. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or to the charity of your choice. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:

PROCTER
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Debbie Ann Procter after a long and courageous battle with C.O.P.D. At the time of her passing Debbie was in the hospital awaiting a lung transplant. Debbie’s journey through life started on March 5, 1960 in Roseau, Minnesota, USA and came to a close at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary on October 3, 2019. Debbie was predeceased by a daughter, Chantel Lynn Procter in infancy, as well as her mother Corinne Palamer and her father Ed Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kaylee Monique Procter, brothers; Gordon (Patty) Thompson, Donny (Christine) Thompson, one sister Marilyn Kinsella, as well as numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she cherished. Throughout her journey Debbie enjoyed many occupations, working in several restaurant and night clubs as well as many years for the Bank of Montreal in Calgary where she received countless awards for “Employee of The Month.” Her final place of employment was Walmart in Medicine Hat where she was treated with respect and compassion. They would adjust her work schedule to accommodate her ability to work and give her any time off she needed when her illness would not afford her the strength to work. The family would like to recognize and thank Walmart for their compassion and understanding. She made many new friends at every stop. Her happiest moment and biggest accomplishment came when she saw her daughter Kaylee, whom she loved only as a mother could, graduate from the University of Toronto with a Masters Degree and a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. It was at this moment that Debbie found peace and was truly prepared for what lie ahead. Debbie also leaves behind her two constant companions and best friends, Pixie and Bella, the puppies she loved and treated as children. As per Debbie’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service and cremation has taken place. A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held at Whiskey Creek, Creekside Reception room on Saturday October 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. To honour Debbie, please dress casual. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations in Debbie’s memory be made to APARC – Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre or to the Alberta Lung Association.
