1926 ~ ANNA FISCHER ~ 2019
Mom was born August 12, 1926 in Johannestal, Ukraine. At the very young age of 10 years old, she carried the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings while her parents were out in the fields working. Oh, how much she wanted to go play with her friends on top of the hill. During WWII mom saw, as a little girl, what nobody in their lifetime should ever see. In 1951, at the age of 25, she made the journey to Canada to start a new life. She worked 3 jobs at a time to earn enough money to bring the rest of her family to Canada. In 1955, she met her husband, Fred. Together they worked hard on the family farm in the Horsham, Sask. area. They were blessed with four children. In 1969, Fred passed away suddenly leaving mom to raise her children on her own. With her four kids in tow, she moved to Medicine Hat. There she became a successful business woman running "Fischer's Draperies" for over 30 years. After retiring at the young age of 78, she pursued her writing career, publishing 2 autobiographies, "Cry Out of Russia", and "Looking Back". In December 2018, mom moved to River Ridge Senior Village, and resided there until her passing. Her body was getting tired, and she left to be with the Lord with her two daughters by her side. In the last few weeks of her life, she didn't want to be alone. One of her last wishes was that all family be reunited, and to forgive. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. or at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Thursday, July 25th, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:25 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH on Thursday, July 25th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Anna’s memory may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 – 8th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5. Condolences may be sent through
