1926 ~ TILLIE MEIER ~ 2019

Mrs. Matilda “Tillie” Meier of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Norman, passed away on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at the age of 92 years. Tillie leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Diana of Medicine Hat, Darlene (Leonard) of Nanaimo, BC, Douglas (Natalie) of Brampton, ON, Daniel (Marleen) of Naicom, SK, David of Saskatoon, SK and Delbert (April) of Medicine Hat; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Bertha (William) Schmidt of Medicine Hat; and numerous nephews and nieces. Tillie was predeceased by her husband, Norman, in 1994; three sisters; four brothers; her son-in law, Paul Metz in 2009; and one grandson, Paul Jr., in infancy. Tillie was born on November 27th, 1926 at Kuest, SK, in the Richmound area and attended Olevean school until the age of 15 years. She moved to Medicine Hat, to work at Domglas in Redcliff from 1942 – 1944 and again from 1947 – 1948. It was there that she met Norman, at a local dance, and they were married on September 25th, 1948 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat. Together they raised their family in Medicine Hat while actively working at building their Watkins distributorship in the Medicine Hat area. Tillie worked alongside Norman until his passing and then carried on until her retirement. Tillie was a lifelong and enthusiastic member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She loved and cared for everyone and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Tuesday at, July 16th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Shane Hein officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. Jean Brunton (nee Folkins) of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the age of 84 years.
Jean spent most of her life in Calgary raising her kids. She enjoyed going for walks with her dogs and spending time with her family and friends. A few years ago she made the move back to her home town of Medicine Hat to be with her youngest daughter and her sister. She really enjoyed being back in a small town.
Jean is survived by children and their spouses, Pamela Jean Stotz (Jim), Lori Jean Stotz (Doug) and Cathy Lou Brunton (Derek); her grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Brittany, Devin and Jake; her brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Lois Folkins; and her sister Muriel Oliphant. Jean was predeceased by her husband Thomas; and her parents Charles and Lilian Folkins.
