BURK-LANGLEY

Verna Burk-Langley passed away on Monday July 1, 2019, at the age of 79 years, beloved wife of James “Jim” Langley. Funeral arrangements will be announced when completed. COLIN COWLING

1922 ~ 2019

Mr. Colin Cowling, beloved husband of the late Nellie Cowling, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the age of 96 years. Left to cherish Colin’s memory are his sons, Al (Shirley) and Ken (Darlene); grandchildren, Bob (Cheryl), Jackie (Ken), Sean and Todd (Nicholette); nine great-grandchildren as well as nine great-great-grandchildren. Colin was predeceased by his wife, Nellie; parents, Joseph and Elsie as well as his brother, Ken. Colin was born in Lancashire, England on October 19, 1922, and moved to Canada in 1948. He fought in WWII on numerous campaigns in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Red Seas. Colin’s ship, HMS Tetcott, picked up downed pilots and sailors during the D-Day invasion. Colin was an electrician by trade who loved to walk, ride his bike and read. He was a great conversationalist who knew alot about history. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him! The family would lile to thank the nurses on 5 West at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital as well as St. Joseph’s Home for their wonderful care they provided. 1937 ~ 2019

Mr. Frederick “Fred” D. Anderson, beloved husband of Mrs. Carole Anderson, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Monday, July 1, 2019, at the age of 82 years. HENDERSON

Violet “Vi” Mae Henderson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Edmund “Ed” Henderson. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Janice Henderson-Lypkie (Ken Lypkie), Robert Henderson, Stephanie (Jim) Simpson, Garnet Henderson (Deb Bishop), Judy Henderson (Al Johnson) and one daughter-in-law Carol Henderson; her grandchildren, Tyler (Calli) and their children Cora and Peter; Jessica, Fraser (Camille), Justin (Nancy) and their children Parker and Finley; Sabrina (Chris) and their children Ashton and Blakely; Amber, Connor, Kaitlyn, Izzie and Kaela; one sister, Grace Heller as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Patrick Schuster; her husband Ed in 2012, and two brothers, Bill Schuster and Pat Schuster. In life, Violet’s guiding principle was love to mankind. She raised five children to get along and she taught all her students and grandchildren the importance of kindness. She cultivated family and rich friendships and her home was an inviting place for all who came. Violet was dearly loved by her husband, Ed, and her children.
The funeral service will be held in Westminster United Church (101 6th Street SE) on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sheila McLeod officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery prior to the funeral service. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
