1926 ~ BRUCE, William (Bill) ~ 2019
William (Bill) Bruce of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the age of 93 years, beloved husband of the late Iris Bruce (nee Robinson). He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Jennifer (Malcolm) Sissons of Medicine Hat and Pauline (Robert) Sweeney of Sherwood Park; six grandchildren, Lisanne (Dale) Beard, Robert (Yvonne) Sissons, Gillian Sissons (Gordon Redden), Michael Sweeney (Julie Postle), David Sweeney, and Patrick Sweeney; ten great grandchildren: Amelia, Isla and Julia Beard; Nya, Foster and Archer Sissons; Claire and Zoey Redden; Aria and William Sweeney. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother David Bruce and many relatives in Northern Ireland. Bill was born February 16, 1926, at Sandholes, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. After attending The Royal School, Dungannon, he graduated from Queen’s University in Belfast and began his career as an aeronautical engineer at Short Brothers. On March 23, 1960, Bill emmigrated to Canada with his wife, Iris, and two young daughters. He worked first for Canadair in Montreal and then Northwest Industries in Edmonton. The last 17 years of his career were spent working for Transport Canada, Western Region (Engineering and Air Worthiness). After retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling with Iris and pursuing his photography and genealogy hobbies. In 2016, Bill moved to Meadow Ridge Seniors Village in Medicine Hat. The family would like to thank the staff of Elkwater Cottage for the excellent care and attention Bill received. Respecting Bill’s wishes, there will be a private family celebration of his life in Edmonton. John Edward Sehn of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Caroline Sehn, passed away on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at the age of 86 years. 1932~ Balthasar “Balser” Peter Heilman ~2019

Balthasar “Balser” Peter Heilman of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Kerr); children, Randall (Diana), Roderick, Kevin (Andrea); grandchildren, Gregory (Justina), Jared (Courtney), Brennen, Mitchell, Olivia and Reid; great-grandchildren, Zander, Nolin, Harper, and Lewis; sisters, Margaret Derringer and Lorraine Bowes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Balser was predeceased by his father and mother, Balzar and Margaret Heilman, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Balser was born Sept 14, 1932 on the family farm north of Fox Valley, SK. When he was 19 his father passed away and he took over managing the farm at the age of 19. When Dorothy and Balser were married in August, 1959 they lived in Medicine Hat but farmed for a year and a half until Margaret moved off the farm and she sold it. During his younger years he showed a natural affinity for fixing cars. He took his journeyman automotive ticket, receiving the highest marks in the province. He worked for several business before opening his own business “Balser’s Auto Service” from which he retired in 1992. He technically didn’t ‘retire’, as in the last few years he worked on friend’s lawn mowers, air conditioning in vehicles and assorted smaller mechanical jobs. Balser was friendly, talkative and a handy man and his garage door was always open. We invite friends and family to help celebrate Balser’s life on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fireside Room in the Cypress Center. Bonnie Ann Desormeau – Weimer

May 26, 1968 – May 28, 2019
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Bonnie Desormeau-Weimer announces her passing on May 28, 2019. She died peacefully and was surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie was predeceased by her parents Ed Desormeau and Yvonne Yelland. She is survived by her husband Frank, stepdaughters Tammy (Terry), Shelly (Aaron), stepson Derick (Anvrea), sisters Penny (James), Patty (Lorrett), Donna, nieces Patsy, Jayana, Peyton, nephews Kevin (Hannah), Christopher and grandchildren Isabel, Jakob, Owen and Anitson. Bonnie was born in Prince Albert and raised in Eldersley, SK. She later moved to Medicine Hat after graduating Hair Dressing School in 1990. After a short courtship, she lived with the love of her life Frank, for nearly 30 years. In 1999, she graduated from Medicine Hat College with her Early Childhood Education. Bonnie lived a full, happy life and had many friends. She was an avid gardener and crafter. Bonnie was devoted to the care of her family, her love of animals and nature, all of which were bound by her generous giving spirit.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thurs. June 6, 2019 at 1:30pm at Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Rd SE, Medicine Hat). Daye (Moldon), Margaret Louise "Marg", age 56, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer in the QEII, VG Site, Halifax, N.S.
Marg is survived by her husband Kevin; daughter Christine and her partner Travis Hawley, granddaughter Ciara; parents Ruth and John Moldon; sisters Cheryl (Joel Singer) Moldon, Vancouver, Bess (Dom) Kelly, Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews.

EDMUND HIRCH

1929 ~ 2019
Edmund Hirch of Bow Island, Alberta, has gone to be with his Lord, passing away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the age of 89 years. He married the love of his life Ruby (nee Ciesla) in 1956 and in 1963 they moved to Bow Island where they farmed for over 54 years. Along with Ruby, Ed will be lovingly remembered by their three children: Richard (Barbara), David (Janet) and Christine (Darren) as well as eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula. A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 104 – 2 Avenue West, Bow Island, on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mac de Waal officiating. Interment will follow at the Bow Island Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Golden Age Centre, 206 – 5 Avenue East, Bow Island. MACDONALD

1957-2017
SUSANNE MACDONALD (Rowat) passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on May 29, 2019. She is survived by her husband Rick, daughter Erin (Cody) Tourcotte, their children Karsynn and Colter and her mother Ruth and brother Hartley as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father James Rowat.
Thank you to the staff of the Medicine Hat hospital 4W for the wonderful care and compassion she received. There is a special place in heaven for quilters!
