EICHELBAUM

Ernst Oswald Eichelbaum passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the age of 81years, beloved husband of the late Peggy Eichelbaum. He leaves to cherish his memory three children Mani Eichelbaum; Trevor (Crystal) Eichelbaum (Kalia, Gaetana, Anton); Nik (Jamie) Eichelbaum (Axel, Nikola, Katie, Alli); one brother Peter (Annemarie) Eichelbaum; two sisters, Barbara Watson, Ute (Lynn) Thacker and one sister-in-law Pat Ley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy Eichelbaum on June 5, 1991 and one son Kristoff on April 22, 2013. Ernst Oswald Eichelbaum was born a German citizen on June 11th, 1937 in Tanganyika, Africa to parents Richard R. Ernst and Erika (nee Ueberuck). In 1939, the family was deported to Germany. Ernie spent his early years in the most hostile climate on earth, WW2 Germany. In 1955, the family was fortunate to receive refugee status from Canada, where they settled, farming near Bow Island. In 1974, Ernie married the love of his life, Peggy Ley. Together they worked hard on the farm and began to raise four sons, Mani, Trevor, Nikolas, and Kristoff. Peggy introduced him to vehicle restoration, a hobby that he passed on to his children. Ernie’s love for cars formed many friendships within the Medicine Hat Vintage Vehicles Club and Model T Ford Club. In 1991, after Ernie lost his wife after a courageous battle with cancer, Ernst continued to raise his boys and ensure that the farm continued to operate. In 2013, he lost his youngest son Kris to suicide. Even still, he continued to soldier on, now with the light of his grandchildren to tease, love, spoil, and enjoy.
Ernie was a compassionate and caring person. He gave his everything for his family and was always humble and logical in his thoughts and actions. He worked hard throughout his life and never asked for a hand up. He was a widely trusted and respected person to his family, friends, and community. Farming was his career but family was his life. The funeral service will be held in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (104 2 Ave W. Bow Island) on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mac deWaal officiating. SERGEANT

After a valiantly fought battle with pneumonia Brad chose to go home rather than live his life with the options given for life. The son of Jim and Claire Sergeant, and the brother of Laura, David, Pam and Anj we will dearly miss him. Like his father he had a phenomenal memory and loved to socialize. His sense of humour and endless jokes made him a joy to be around. Myotonic Dystrophy effected his speech, legs and hands but he never complained. He adjusted his life accordingly, from playing Tiny Mite hockey to later coaching Tiny Mite and as the disease progressed-his electric wheel chair. Brad was born January 6, 1962 and passed away at the Red Deer ICU April 4, 2019. In honour of his life a memorial service will be held at First Assembly of God, on May 11 at 2 o'clock. We thank you for your prayers, they were truly appreciated. Brad left looking forward to meeting his Savior.
