1936 ~ MARGO WEISS ~ 2019

Margo Annette Weiss (nee Chant) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2019 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side at Good Samaritan South Ridge Village, age 82 years. Margo leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 38 years, Don Weiss, her daughter Mary Ellen (Gord Meier) Gunter of Medicine Hat and son Lorne (Doris Bonora) Gunter of Edmonton and her grandchildren Mia and John; her brother Dale (Sally) Chant of Maple Creek, Sask.; her stepsons Colin (Barb), Dale (Chandra) and Allan, stepdaughters Sheila (Barry) and Susan (Chuck), step-grandchildren Angela, Jennifer, Michael, Chris, Adam, Linden, Faith, Isaac, Darrick, Deanna, Rachel, Jessie and Alex, and 11 step-greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Mason and Elda Chant and step-grandson Donovan. Margo was born in Maple Creek, Sask. on September 12, 1936. She enjoyed an active and happy childhood there and in the Cypress Hills with her family, her aunts, uncles and many cousins. After leaving school, Margo worked for a time at Birks jewellery store in Calgary. It was on the train during one of her trips home that she met a young radio announcer, Tom Gunter, who she married. She moved to Medicine Hat in the 1950s, made a home, raised two kids and lived there the rest of her life. Margo loved entertaining her family’s many friends and neighbours and will be remembered for her Christmas Eve BINGO parties begun on 10th Street more than 50 years ago. She loved camping and planning driving holidays around North America, but more than anything cherished her summers in “the Hills” in southwest Saskatchewan. After she met and married Don Weiss in 1980, her love of travel expanded, as did her passion for horses and life on their farm just south of the Medicine Hat city limits. She threw herself into pitching bales, cleaning stalls and assisting with Don’s show horses. In her final years, Margo found comfort in visits and walks with many friends, particularly Mary and Shirley, and in the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan. The Funeral Service will be held at HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH, 1250 Division Avenue SW, on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Patrick Schoenburger officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Margo’s favorite charity, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710 – 10123, 99 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3H1 or visit https://www. albertacancer.ca/. 1964 ~ STACEY McLEOD ~ 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stacey Edward McLeod, age 55 years, with his loving wife, Sandy by his side, on Monday, April 1st, 2019 after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Anyone who knew Stacey knows he had two loves, his family and his pipes: wife, Sandy McLeod; five children, Logan (Cara) McLeod, Rochelle (Ben) Jones, Courtney Rudichuk, Cassandra Swiegers (Corey Davidson) and Stacey McLeod; his mother, Dorothy Page; seven grandchildren, Dante, Cayden, Whitney, Charleigh, Corbin, Ryker, and Rixten; and his loving sidekick, Deuce. Stacey was predeceased by his father, Grant McLeod; and his two brothers, Bob McLeod and Reg McLeod. Stacey moved his family to Bassano in 1997 where they got to enjoy the country life he had enjoyed as a child in Saskatchewan. Here he had the great pleasure of raising three beautiful daughters and two grandsons while building his career in the oilfield. As work dried up, he had to travel farther for work but still managed to make family his priority. Unfortunately, much to his regret, Stacey missed out on much of the life of his children from his first marriage, but they were always in his heart. There wasn’t much time for play between work and family, but Stacey always enjoyed time fishing on the Shuswap. Each winter him and Sandy would sneak away to a beach for Stacey to enjoy his other pleasure—scuba diving. Stacey had a lifelong love of pipes. He started his career as an insulator. When he conquered this challenge, he moved onto pipefitting and continuing the climb to consultant where he spent many years working all over the province. He was greatly respected in his field and met many good friends along the way. Stacey proudly ended his career as a facility and pipeline inspector for Inception Exploration Ltd. A private time of remembrance will be held. Memorial gifts in Stacey’s memory may be made to your local S.P.C.A or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5. Condolences may be sent to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Stacey McLeod. Funeral arrangements entrusted to
