1928 ~ CLIFF SCHMIDEK ~ 2019
Clifford “Cliff” Donald Schmidek of Dunmore, beloved husband of the late Irene Schmidek, passed away on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Cliff leaves to cherish his memory three children, Lorne (Elaine) Schmidek, Lee (Lorelie) Schmidek and Gail (Reg) Gill; eight grandchildren, Colin (Brenda) Gill, Sheldon Gill, Nathan Schmidek, Devin (Angela) Gill, Sarah (Wally) Portelance, Kate (Polo) Sprunger, Payton Schmidek (Ben Motz) and Tate Schmidek; eight great grandchildren, Kyra, Reese, Chet, Caitlyn, Nash, Clara, Hendrix and Zoe; one brother-in-law, Harold Brucker; one sister-in-law, Vi (Dale) Olsen; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful four legged companion, Boy. Cliff was predeceased by his wife, Irene; his parents, Fred and Katherine Schmidek; and one sister, Winnifred Thomson. Cliff was born on May 8th, 1928 in Medicine Hat where he met and married Irene Brucker on January 8th, 1953. He spent most of his life on the farm and loved the time he was able to devote to it; he never missed a branding and auction marts were a favorite of his. Cliff also enjoyed puzzles, one could always be found on his table. He was blessed with wonderful health his entire life. Beyond all else, Cliff loved his family and getting together for supper or cards. He will be missed, and his memory cherished by his family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. A private interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Mrs. Annie Mary Humbert (nee Glaser), beloved wife of the late Delbert Humbert, passed away peacefully a St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the age of 91 years. Anne was born in Fox Valley, SK., on August 2, 1927, to George and Elizabeth Glaser. She married Delbert Humbert in 1955, in Calgary. Anne was a faithful and devoted member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed sewing, baking, football and knew more about hockey than most hockey players. She was a devoted Medicine Hat Tigers fan and season ticket holder for 40 years. Anne’s memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family: daughter, Rhonda Humbert and son-in-law, Todd Haase and their dog, Murphie; grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Amanda (Ryan) and Jordan (Alex); great-grandchildren, Liam, Jordan, Monique, Carter, Korry and Harper; nieces, Connie (Ted), Dory (Neil), Catherine (Stan) and Debbie; nephews, Warren (Sheila), Brian (Sandy), Scott (Ev), Sean (Mia) and Robin. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Delbert; son, Wayne and his partner, Debbie; parents, George and Elizabeth Glaser; brothers and their wives, Tony (Olive), Delmer (Bertha) and Floyd (Gerry). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue, N.E., Medicine Hat on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Tomy Manjaly celebrant. BELLAMY
Kenneth Donald Bellamy (Kenny B) passed away peacefully at his residence on March 8, 2019 at the age of 67 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 37 years, Nyla Bellamy; his two children Jordan (Alisa) Bellamy and Donovan Bellamy (Jennifer) both of Medicine Hat; three grandchildren Zander, Corbin and Parker; three sisters, Heather Bellamy, Amber (Joe) Wogrinc, Debby (Blaine) Renner; mother-in-law Anna Jesse, brother-in-law Ivan (Sharon) Jesse as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William Donald and Agnes Bellamy. Ken was born on May 28, 1951 in North Battleford Saskatchewan. On December 17, 1981, he married the love of his life Nyla Jesse. Ken and Nyla started their life together by establishing a farm east of Medicine Hat where they raised their two children. Ken started his career by purchasing his first semi-truck, hauling grain in southern Alberta and western Saskatchewan. He then went back to school to further his education and achieved a journeyman certificate in carpentry. He worked in the construction industry for many years building houses in Medicine Hat, including the home that he raised his family in. In 1985, he changed career paths back into the trucking industry, which led him into the oilfield, working for companies including Canadian Fracmaster, BJ Services, Nowsco –Fracmaster, Co3 Energy and Ferus Inc. He continued his driving career with LMT Enterprises and Care Cabs for many years. Prior to Ken’s retirement he worked with his son Donovan at Dynamic Industrial Solutions until he retired in 2017, at the age of 65. His family meant everything to him and he enjoyed going to the curling rink and traveling to watch his boys curl. Ken was always one to have a great sense of humor and tried to take the edge off of tense situations. He always tried to make everyone comfortable with laughter, a skill that was passed down to his sons. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandpa and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. In following with Ken’s wishes, please join us in a celebration of his life at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club located at 947 Pigeon Street, NE., on Friday March 15th from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for everyone to come visit and share memories of Ken. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gail Mary Kurtz (Edward), beloved wife of Delbert Kurtz, announce her passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the age of 80 years. Gail was born on November 21, 1938 in Medicine Hat where she was raised and received her education. Gail worked in media and was employed with various radio stations before settling in Medicine Hat where she raised her two sons, and dedicated herself to 26 plus years with CHAT Radio. She enjoyed life and loved to listen to music and dance. In the summer Gail could be found camping, enjoying the RV and in the winter she was a snowbird and headed south to Arizona with her beloved Del. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who often boasted about her grandkids! Gail was truly loved by all and will be deeply missed by her husband, Delbert; sons, Doug (Shelley) Edward and Derek (Deanne) Edward; Del’s children, Yvonne Peterson (Frank Gilham), Dean (Jacqueline) Kurtz and Cheryl Rayner (Lester Wisnowski); grandchildren, Sarah, Stefanie, Evan, Preston, Matthew, Ryan (Nadiya), Derek, Shaun (Cindy), Brandon, Dustin (Bailee) and Katrina; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Pickering and Brian Pickering as well as numerous extended family and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Gabriel ‘Gib’ and Yvonne Pickering. At Gail's request, a private family service will be held, followed by a public time of fellowship on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm, in the Cook Southland Reception Facility, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Gail’s life.
