1934 ~ SYLVIA DOONAN ~ 2019
Helen “Sylvia” Doonan of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Albert Doonan, mother to Patricia (Bill Kournikakis) and Karen (Doug Zeller); six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and predeceased by her son, Kelly Doonan, passed away on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Lisa Leann Corbett, partner of Allen Minderlein of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at the age of 48 years. Lisa leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Amber (Nathan), Taylor (Kyle) and Haley; her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Corbett; three grandchildren, Austin, Kayden and Kinsley; her brother, Lance (Rhonda); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen Annie Anderson passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Anderson . She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Helen (Jeno) Kerezsi of Hamilton, Ontario and Betty Austin of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Charlotte, Ashley, Samantha (Marcy), Eugene (Brenda); her great grandchildren, Jessica, Jordynn, Payton, Lucas, Sophia, Jamie, Liam, Shania, Julianna, Gracie and Junior; one great great grandson, William; two brothers, Bill (Ann) Tarzwell and Bob Tarzwell; one sister, Lillian Eden and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Annie Tarzwell; her husband, Bob on November 26, 2005; two brothers, Chuck and George; two sisters, Dorothy and Charlotte. Helen was a dedicated volunteer. She was involved with MADD and volunteered with many charities at the Bingo Hall. Helen had only one speed and that was ‘real fast’. She was a long time friend of “ Bill W”. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at the Top Hat Bingo Hall (602 Clay Ave SE) on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Margery E. Patricia Ann Biswell passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the age of 74 years, beloved wife of Peter Biswell of Redcliff. She also leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Nicola Biswell of Redcliff and Peter’s son David (Lorraine) Biswell of England; two grandchildren, Amy Biswell and her family and Jessica (Andy) Mitchell; her special sister growing up Florence Schultz of Prince George, B.C.; her dear friends in Redcliff, Les and Cheryl, Trev and Vi; her good friends in England, Joan Irving, Barbara and Peter Lowery; one cousin, Karen Reeder of Medicine Hat; her aunt Annie “Elaine” Hill of Calgary and several cousins. JOHN FRENCH
July 30, 1931 ~ February 22, 2019
Mr. John French, beloved husband of Irene, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society Southridge Village in Medicine Hat on Friday, February 22, 2019, at the age of 87 years. Johnnie was born on the farm South of Consul, SK., on July 30, 1931, the third son to Patrick and Annie (nee Bell) French. He had two older brothers, Paddy and Joe. Johnnie was raised on the farm and attended “Spunky Puddle” School. At the age of 14 years, he went to work haying for Art and Mary Rotnem. He later bought a 3T truck which he hauled grain and cattle with before working a short time on the rigs. Johnnie then moved on to do road maintenance work for the L.I.D. and the Rural Municipality of Maple Creek for the remainder of his working career. He married Irene Stovka on December 22, 1956, in Havre, MT., and together they had two children, Gloria Lynn and Kenneth Gordon. They lived in Consul, SK., and retired to Medicine Hat in 1998. Johnnie lived at the Good Samaritan Society Southridge Village for the last three years and family are truly grateful for the care he received. Along with his loving wife, Irene, Johnnie is survived by: daughter, Gloria (Duane) Illerbrun; son, Ken (Brenda) French; Gloria’s daughters, Stephanie (Travis) Nelson, Melanie (Kyle) Stevenson, Kendra (Alex) Kinch; Ken’s sons, Jeff (Jessica) French and Blaine (Lisette) French; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews as well as five sisters-in-law, Saloma, Annie, Mary (John) Chuckry, Barb Hackman and Sherril (Gerry) Kukartz. He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Annie; brothers, Paddy and Joe; nephew, Billie; in-laws, Leslie, Larry, Don, Dale and Betty as well as two great-grandsons, Bodhi and Anthony Kinch. A Private celebration of Johnnie’s life will be held at a future date. Honouring his memory as pallbearers will be his grandchildren and their spouses and a special tribute to Grandpa will be shared by Stephanie Nelson. Norma Rae Fischer, beloved wife of Gerry ‘Bushy’ Fischer, passed away peacefully at The Wellington in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the age of 76 years. Along with Bushy, she leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Rod (Sue) and Cal (Yvette); grandchildren, Mel (Dave) and Blaine (Darilyn) as well as her great-grandson, Benson. Norma was born on March 9, 1942, in Medicine Hat and married Bushy on August 31, 1960. The family would like to thank the staff of The Wellington for their compassionate care.
