1935 ~ Alvin William “Al” Strobel ~ 2019

Alvin William Strobel of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Eunice; daughter, Cindy (Bill) Rose; son, Cory (Shelley) Strobel; grandchildren, Brant Rose (Marlaina Eldey), and Taylor (Richelle) Rose, Melissa Strobel; great-granddaughter, Harper Rose; sister, Elsie (George) McQuarrie; brother, Albert (Nina) Strobel; sister-in-law, Anne Strobel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Anna Strobel; daughter, Cheryl Szoke; and brother, Martin Strobel.
Al was born in Kerrobert, SK, on October 12, 1935 and was raised on the family farm near Luseland, SK. After completing his early education in Luseland, he continued on to attend Briercrest College and Seminary in Caronport, SK. After completing his education, Al worked for Co-op for 36 years before retiring in Medicine Hat, AB. He cheerfully volunteered his time to maintenance services for the Whispering Pines Bible Camp over the years in addition to being a member of Gideon’s International for many years. He enjoyed listening to Gospel Music, playing golf, and going for coffee with his friends. Family was very important to Al and he will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

DeGAGNÉ, Denise Lillian (née Lauzé)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-grandmother who passed away in Calgary in the early morning on Friday, February 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Denise is survived by her four children, Maurice (Melanie), Michelle, René (Karen), and Réanne. She is also survived by her loving siblings Paul (Linda) Lauzé, and Rollande (Tom) Lauzé-Duffy; eight adoring grandchildren: Geoffrey and Mason Heller, Claire (Dominic) Leupold, Marie (Troy) Allchurch, Phil DeGagné (Clay), Jeanne (Landon) Franson, Danna and Emma DeGagné; and six adoring great- grandchildren: Evander and Jocelyn Leupold; Ava, Jayna and Reid Allchurch, and Harper Franson. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene DeGagné, and her eldest daughter, Mona Heller (nee DeGagné).

Dorothy Elizabeth Geddes of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the age of 90 years, beloved wife of the late Michael “Ross” Geddes (June 21, 1996). She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Hugh Geddes, Larry (Anita) Geddes, Diane (Robin) Simpson and Karen (Ross) Lacelle; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Geddes; twelve grandchildren, Ross Geddes (the mother of his children, Eryn Driver), Crystal Geddes (Chad Martin), Sara Reimer (Ryan), Mac Geddes (Ashlee), Christopher Page, Jayson Page, Bradley Simpson, Devon Simpson, Taylor Simpson, Blaine Woodcock (Christine McClean), Brandi Warren and Cody Woodcock (Angela); twenty great grandchildren; her sister Lillian Dockrell; her sisters-in-law, June McPherson (Al), Joyce Geddes, Vida Geddes, Fern Wudrich and Betty Wudrich; her brothers-in-law, Richard Geddes and Herb Geddes as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents, Carl and Mary Wudrich; her brothers, Andrew (Grace) Wudrich, Walter (Mildred) Wudrich, Rudy (Mary) Wudrich and Gus Wudrich; and her sisters, Alvena (Jack) Kettles and Elsie (Arnie) Butler, and brother-in-law Stan Dockrell. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1929 in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan. At a young age her family moved near Conquerville, Alberta to farm. She moved to Medicine Hat to attend Garbutt Business School. Shortly after she married Michael Geddes on July 16, 1949. Throughout her life, Dorothy was a keeper. Her career started as a bookkeeper and then she was a keeper of countless kids, but she always did her best to keep everyone on the straight and narrow. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you for the past years of care and compassion by the Sunnyside Nursing Home staff. The funeral service will be held in the Victory Lutheran Church (2793 Southview Dr SE) on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Diaconal Minister Lila deWaal officiating. Ruth Elizabeth McAlpine (nee Morin), passed away at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the age of 93 years. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory: sons, David (Rosella) Morin, Glen (Jan) Morin, Leslie (Lavene) Morin and Ted (Marlies) Morin; daughters, Donna (Gordon) Schroeder and Candace (Kevin) Green; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mable Moller (Peter’s sister) and Mary (Don) Morin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved 1st husband, Peter Morin (April 1973), 2nd husband, Jim McAlpine (July 2003); granddaughter, Jenene Morin (Nov. 2001); brother, Bill Kozroski (Oct. 2018) as well as her parents, Demetri “Jim” and Grace Kozroski (nee Weaver).
