1923 ~ ROSE CLARK ~ 2018

CLARK, Rose (nee Kushniryk), passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her son, David Peskor (wife Margot) of Redcliff, Alberta; grandson, Adam Peskor of Redcliff, Alberta; grandson, Eric Peskor; and great-grandson, Dylan Peskor of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Dear sister to Stephanie Thompson of Newmarket, Ontario and Shirley Maher (husband John) of Sydney, Australia. She is also survived by son-in-law, Roger Prince of Winnipeg; granddaughter, Jennifer Wallace (husband Mark) and their children Amelia and Hayden of Whitehorse; grandson, Kevin Prince of Winnipeg; and granddaughter, Heather Prince (partner Rob) and their children, Shannon, Abbey and Honor of Winnipeg. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Walter Clark; daughter, Lorraine Prince; brother, Metro “Joe” Kushniryk; sister, Anne Karakas; sister, Mary Morton; brother, Daniel Kushniryk; and great-grandson, Stephen Gauthier. A Memorial Service for Rose will be held at a later date. BAUMBACK

Catherine Leslie Baumback passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the age of 68 years, beloved wife of Gary Baumback of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Leslie Lait (David Lesmeister) of Medicine Hat; her mother Agnes Walkington, one brother Ian (Charlene) Walkington, one sister June Edmonds, and two nephews, Johnathon and Bradley. She was predeceased by her father Leslie Walkington; two children, Jennifer in 1977 and Tim in 2016; one brother Colin Walkington; and one brother-in-law Dennis Edmonds. Catherine was born on December 5, 1949, in Arbroath, Scotland where she was raised. In 1965, at the age of 16, she immigrated to Canada with her family, residing in Toronto. She gradually made her way west living in Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and in the mid 1970's she settled in Medicine Hat where she worked in the greenhouse industry – her favorite part being the flowers. On April 12, 1985, she married Gary Baumback in Medicine Hat. Gary and Catherine loved to travel and visited places such as Spain, Mexico, Scotland, went on an Alaskan Cruise, San Francisco, Victoria and Vancouver Island. She also loved to golf and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Medicine Hat Legion. Her family would like to thank the nurses, Dr.'s and staff on the 4th floor for the great care shown to Catherine during her stay at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. GOUGH MATTHEWS

1923 – 2018
Edwin Gough Matthews, beloved husband of Helga Matthews, passed away in Bow Island on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the age of 95 years.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the community hall prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 between 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Foremost Community Hall, 802 – 1 Avenue West, Foremost on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. A private burial will follow at the Nemiskam Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Besides his loving wife Helga, Gough is survived by their children Cynthia Matthews of Medicine Hat and her family Christopher (Paige) Schlenker and Carter Schlenker; Cyril (Michelle) Matthews of Foremost and their family Kayley and Kaitlin Matthews; Malcolm Matthews (Tricia Kramer) of Foremost and their family Thomas Brazil, Melody Brazil, Hailey Smith, Graham, Walker and Mavrik Matthews; Carrie (Barry) Taylor of Medicine Hat and their family Anna, Brandon and Megan Taylor. He is also survived by his sisters Laura (Derek) Johnson of Taber, Fran (Ron) Hyde of New Westminster, British Columbia and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Katie (nee Gough) and Edwin Matthews and by his sisters Kathleen (Josef) Bullinger and Helen “Nell” (Tom) Jensen.
Gough was born on the family farm near Nemiskam on June 19, 1923 where he was raised and educated in a one room schoolhouse on the property. On August 8, 1969 he married Helga McFall and together they raised four children on the family farm, where Helga and Gough have remained since.
Gough was known for his quick wit and loved to tease the grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In his youth, his passion was his horses and his dog Trixie, which he spoke of often. When he wasn't working on the farm, Gough could be found at a dance or an auction sale in Southern Alberta.

PHILIP WEINBERGER

1923 – 2018
Philip G. Weinberger of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the age of 95 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Harry Weinberger and Linda (Doug) Dobbyn all of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Kristel (Tony) Wright of Ottawa, Stephanie (Kevin) McGrath of Medicine Hat, Troy (Rae) Weinberger of Swift Current and Sean Dobbyn (Mei Kang) of Vancouver; three great grandchildren Liam, Callum and Jack McGrath; three brothers, Joe (Wilma) of Indian Head, Roy of Edmonton and Sonny (Barb) of Maple Creek; three sisters, Margaret Pados of Victoria, Emily Wolf of Vancouver and Tillie (Dick) Lerner of Medicine Hat; his very special friend Connie Steffler and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel in 1985; his second wife Christine (Deany) McKay in 2007; daughter-in-law Irene Weinberger in 2008; seven brothers Lee, Michael, Peter, Adam, Frank, Greg and Nick and one sister Betty Meyer. Philip was born on April 8, 1923 at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan and was the 8th child in a family of 15 of Sebastian and Frances Weinberger. Philip married Ethel Geiger on October 29, 1946 and settled on the family farm in Fox Valley where they raised their family. They retired to Medicine Hat in December of 1982, and their son Harry took over the family farm in 1983. Philip, often referred to as “Dr. Phil” was a hard working, happy and fun loving man who enjoyed telling and hearing a good joke and who loved to dance, play cards, curl, bowl and watch the Toronto Blue Jays. He even joined the Senior Men’s Slow Pitch team and was “a star” for 25 years. He was a farmer at heart and helped Harry well into his 80's running the combine and offering advice. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 noon – 12:55 p.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
