1927 –

JUANITA (NITA) PORTER
– 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juanita Patricia Porter, beloved wife of John Robert “Bob” Porter of 62 years. Nita passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 at the age of 91.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughters Susan (Jim) Roads, Kelly (Brian) Schorr, Andrea (Dwayne) Neitz, Tracy (Don) Keays, Rebecca (Garth) Porter, her daughter-in-law Stacia Thomson and her son-in-law Dick Sloan, her brother Rod Canham and sisters Pat (Fergy) Schmidt and Betty (Garry) Kramer.
Nita felt honored to have 7 children, 29 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Cynthia Sloan, her son Jay Porter and son-in-law Mark Audette.
Nita was born and raised in Medicine Hat, AB. Over the years she and Bob lived in Gull Lake, Sask., Shaunavon, Sask. and made their home in Maple Creek for almost 40 years before retiring in Medicine Hat. Nita was extremely community oriented and was very involved with the United Church, Eastern Star and the Legion. Between family, friends, hobbies and community organizations, she was one busy lady.
A funeral service will be held in the Maple Creek United Church on Saturday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Michele Rowe officiating.

1949 ~ BARB STENGER ~ 2018

Mrs. Barbara “Barb” Veryl Stenger, beloved wife of John Stenger of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Barb also leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Jo-Ann (Justin) Perschbacher and Joy Stenger; four grandchildren, Skyler Perschbacher, Tristan Perschbacher, Quintin Cooper and Chelsia Cooper; one sister, Brenda (Brian) Crowder; special relatives, John and René Suhai; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Garfield and Iris Davison. Barb was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on December 14th, 1949. At the age of 16 she started her seamstress career with alterations, progressing to drapery and gowns and everything in between. Her proudest achievement was her daughter’s graduation gowns and wedding dresses. Barb enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, cross stitching and making stuff for her grandchildren. Her memory will be forever cherished by all those who knew and loved her. Purple was Barb's favorite color, please dress casually for the funeral service; purple optional. 1950 ~ SALLY WENTWORTH ~ 2018

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sally Frances Wentworth (nee Dexter) of Medicine Hat, on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Sally leaves to cherish her memory her father, Geoffrey Dexter; two sons, Ashley Dexter and Leigh (Ruth) Bevington; three grandchildren, Matthew Bevington, Morroco Johnson and Logan Dexter- Goddard; two brothers, Christopher Dexter and Steven (Kieu) Dexter; one sister, Louise Dexter; numerous nieces and nephews; beautiful God Children, Braxton and Keaton; her many devoted friends; and many special 'fur babies'. Sally was predeceased by her daughter, Lara Dexter in 1985; mother, Ada Dexter in 2010; and her nephew, Jamie Dexter in 2015. Sally was born in Sheffield, England on May 22, 1950. She immigrated to Canada with her parents, at the age of 5 years, first settling in Edmonton and then later in the N.W.T. As a young woman she started her career as a hair stylist and she opened her very first shop in Fort Smith called “Camelot”. Through her years, Sally lived in various places and worked in many different careers including real estate and bookkeeping. She taught hairdressing at the Mavvel Beauty School in Saskatoon and then moved to Jasper to work in the local barbershop. She loved the laidback atmosphere and the people that she met while working in the small community. “Sal” moved to Medicine Hat in 2010 to help care for her parents. She and Dad were a great team and helped each other immensely. She devoted her life to the care of animals. She ran the Furry Friends Foundation for a number of years, helping those that were less fortunate and were unable to feed their beloved cats and dogs. Her love of animals went above and beyond, as was her love of people. Sal always put others needs ahead of her own. She will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Sal’s Life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Captains Ron & Joyce MacDonald officiating. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joy Catherine Mary Chinook on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at the age of 67 years. Her memory will be cherished by her husband Garry Chinook of Medicine Hat, her son Mike (Eleanor) and grandson Logan. She is also survived by three sisters, Joan Groft, Julie Prosofsky (Thomas Samoila) and June (Chip) Kniss; three brothers Jim (Patricia) Prosofsky, Joe (Doris) Prosofsky and Jeff Prosofsky as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents Jean and Joseph Prosofsky, one sister Jan and two brothers-in-law, Gord Groft and Tim Chinook. It is with saddened hearts that the family of Frederick Charles Borzel announce his passing at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Along with Ann, his beloved wife of almost 62 years, left to cherish Fred’s memory are his daughters,

Schlosser (Keith) and her children, Ryan (Steph) and their children, Taylor and Wynter and Ryley (Jessie) and their children, Ryker and Tytan;
Shelly
(Ivan) Martens and their children Kayla (Tyler) and Desa (Jeff); his four-legged family, Coors, Milee, Malibu, Kona and Preacher; siblings, Art Borzel, Annette Lawyer and Bob (Bridgett) Borzel; Ann’s brother, Erven (Gail) Mackintosh as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was predeceased by his son-in-law, Guy Schlosser; parents, August and Alice as well as his step-mother, Grace. For 50 years, Fred and Ann lived in Swift Current and on the farm at Waldeck before moving to Medicine Hat to be closer to their family. In his earlier years, Fred was involved with 4-H with his girls and enjoyed time spent on the farm raising and breaking horses and later, driving chuckwagons and chariots. He enjoyed watching many sports and especially enjoyed participating in curling. Fred loved traveling to steam engine shows and building his own smaller scale steam engine but nothing beat time spent with his family and friends. He was a kind and helpful person who will be dearly missed. Fred’s life will be silently remembered without the proceedings a formal funeral service.
