BODIN
Ivy Pearl Bodin, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the age of 88 years, with family by her side. Ivy was the beloved wife of Gilbert for almost 68 years. She also leaves to cherish her memory their children, Brenda (Larry) Robinson, Rod (Sharon), Wayne (Marlene), Elaine (Randy) Humphrey, Syd (Sharon), Keith (Brenda), Todd (Samantha); seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; Ivy was anxiously awaiting the arrival of three more great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma and Adolph Greene; one daughter Wanda Bodin on May 27, 1988; one granddaughter Staci; one sister Doris (John) Dalla Longa; two brothers, Howard (Doris) and Wally; her in-laws, Fred and Esther Bodin. Ivy was born on April 8, 1930 in Medicine Hat where she was raised and received her education. She worked at Medalta Pottery for a few years before marrying Gilbert in 1950. In 1952, they moved to Etzikom at which time Gilbert began working for the County of 40 Mile. In 1958, they moved to the family farm North of Orion. While Gilbert was busy running the road grader and farming, Ivy was busy nurturing eight children, raising chickens, selling eggs, shipping cream, tending to a large garden, canning, baking cinnamon buns, bread and making the best fried chicken. She enjoyed the company of her neighbours and rarely missed a community function. Ivy and Gilbert always went to the Dine and Dances in Orion. Family was extremely important to Ivy; she shared in their successes, and disappointments but always encouraged them. She was proud to have attended most of the family’s graduations and weddings. In May of 1993, they started a new chapter in their lives by moving to Medicine Hat. It was a hard move for Ivy but she was excited to have a new home and unlimited water for her garden and flower beds. After 24 years in their home, due to ill health, in September of 2017, they moved to Age Care at the Valleyview. In February of 2018, her health rapidly deteriorated and she moved into long term care. Fortunately they were able to still be together in the same building – a blessing for them both. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday, from 12:30 – 1:25 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
