1925 ~ FRANK SIMMONS ~ 2018

Frank Arthur Simmons, beloved husband of the late Hazel Simmons, passed away on Friday, July 13th, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Frank leaves to cherish his memory four children and their families. ERIC GERHARD VEERENHUIS

September 26, 1965 – July 12, 2018

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Eric, our partner, our son, our brother and our uncle. Eric was born and raised in Saskatoon, Sk. He attended Henry Kelsey Public School and Bedford Road Collegiate Eric started to work in the oil industry at 23 years of age and resided in Medicine Hat for the last 30 years. Eric spent the last few years as a consultant, forming his own company. Eric was stricken with stage 4 cancer in March. He fought a good fight. Eric is survived by his partner Teryl Van Dooren, his mother Edie, his brother Michael (Roxann, Alyssa, Danielle Misener (Jordan) and Devin, his sister Melanie Smith (Todd, Justice and Jaxon). He was predeceased by his father, Hank in May of 2017. His Uncle, Les Eversen, his Aunt, Anna Eversen, his Maternal and Fraternal Grand Parents. There will be a gathering of remembrance on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at 4:00 pm for Family and Friends. This will be held at Mont Nebo, Saskatchewan in the hall. Thank you to the caring staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. MARGARET WINKLER

1922 ~ 2018
Margaret (Maggie) Winkler, wife of the late Leonard Winkler, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 96 years. She leaves behind her children, Leslie (Vicki), Reginald, Timothy and Bruce (Connie) and their children, Ariel and Kailye. She was predeceased by her son, Dennis in 1987; parents August and Marie (Lamikan) Huber; an infant sister, Helena; sisters, Lydia (Herman) Helmer, Hilda (George) Fauser, Helen (Emmanuel) Helmer, Alice (Gerald) Eichhorst and brothers, Berthold (Esther), Edwin and Richard (Helen). Margaret was born in Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan, May 23, 1922. She married Leonard Winkler on April 10, 1942, in the Rosenfeld Baptist Church before he left to serve in the army during WWII. Upon his return to Golden Prairie, they farmed for the next two years before moving to Medicine Hat in 1947. There they attended Grace Baptist Church until it closed. She enjoyed reading her bible, playing her Hammond organ, gardening, knitting/crocheting and visiting relatives. A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
