1930 ~ JEANNETTE VALK ~ 2018

Jeannette (Jantje) Valk, beloved wife of the late John Henry “Hank”, passed away on May 20, 2018 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her four sons and thirteen grandchildren: John and his sons, John and William of Vancouver, BC; Roy and Yvonne and their children, Lauren, Kyle, Rachel and Ryan; Bruce and Shelley and their children, Kristen, Curtis, Richelle and Michael, all of Medicine Hat; and Glen and Pamela and their children, Breanne, Louis and Danielle of Calgary, AB. Other surviving relatives are her nieces and nephews, all residing in the Netherlands. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Hank; daughter, Marion; brother, Jan; and sister, Leida. Jeannette was born in Wierden, the Netherlands on September 7, 1930. Hank immigrated to Canada in 1954 and after returning to Holland to marry Jeannette on April 5, 1957 in Hellendoorn, they returned to Canada and settled in Medicine Hat. After joining Hank in Canada, Jeannette worked as a Lab Technician at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital before becoming a mother to her children. She was a strong and loving woman, who was passionate about gardening and very proud of all of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jeannette may do so to the Medicine Hat & District Horticultural Society, Box 1134, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 7H3. 1938 ~ ALVIN BESPLUG ~ 2018

Mr. Alvin Besplug of Medicine Hat passed away on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Brent (Monika), and Scott (Cathy); three grandchildren, Matthew (Chelsey), Carley (Jeremy), and Dylan (Kaytlyn); as well as numerous great grandchildren. Alvin was predeceased by one son, Warren; as well as his parents, Anton and Mary. There will be no formal service for Alvin. ERNEST KELLER

Oct 30, 1927-May 23, 2018
After a full life Ernest Keller passed away peacefully at the age of 90. He was born in Switzerland and shortly after marrying Erna, moved to Medicine Hat. He spent many years working as a butcher for Safeway and then moved on to become a commercial beekeeper with some 600 hives. Many people in Medicine Hat will remember coming to the family home to get their fresh honey. He loved his fishing and shared a passion for gardening with his wife. He and Erna moved to Lacombe in their latter years to be closer to their son and after 61 years of marriage, Erna predeceased Ernest in 2016. He will always be remembered for his gentleness, his joking, his honesty and integrity. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and friends. He is survived by his son Ron (Deanna) of Lacombe and their children- Matthew (Amy) Keller, Adam (Christy) Keller, Anna (Jonathon) Gillingham, Chad Gouw, Justin (Melissa) Gouw, and Brittany Gouw AND Anita (Mark) Worrell of Australia and their children Brad (Shevaun) Worrell, Kathleen (Michael) Harris and Angeline Worrell. He has 5 great grandchildren- Brady and Claire Keller, Thea Gillingham and Lilyanna and Luca Harris. A special thank you to his doctors and the staff at Royal Oak Village and Lacombe Hospital. He always appreciated your help. He will be missed by many but we are glad he now has his rest with the Lord.
