ADAMS

Bonnie Denise Adams of Redcliff, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the age of 52 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her partner, Robert Zizek; her children, Justin Sykes (Kristie Cormeir) and Kristen Adams (Justin Nagy); her grandchildren, Trinity, Skylar and Mahaila; and her sister Sharon (Eldon) Blanchard. She was predeceased by her parents Victor and Marvilla Opp, her husband Darrell Adams in 2007, and her brothers, Brian Opp in 2010 and Darryl Opp in infancy. Bonnie was a valuable member of Alberta Health Services as part of their Linen and Enviromental Services team at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the past 26 years. She was well liked and respected throughout the facility. Her outgoing personality, willingness to go the extra mile, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Balthasar “Balzar” Jacob Lanz, with his family by his side. Balzar is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Emily Marie Hammel announce her passing in Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the age of 75 years. MURIEL JEANETTE DESROCHERS

June 19, 1937 – April 3, 2018
Mrs. Muriel Desrochers passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the age of 80 years. Muriel leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Randall (Wanita) Desrochers and Terry Desrochers; daughter, Shelly (Ray) Scherger; grandchildren, Dion (Candice) and their children Gianna and Maxime; Devin, Desiree (Matt) and their daughter Rome; Juston (Mia), Brianne (Aaron), Jaycene and Janessa. She was predeceased by her husband, Leopold Desrochers in 1999. Muriel married the love of her life, Leo, on July 21, 1956, in Edmonton. They moved to Medicine Hat in 1959, where they made their home. She was employed at the post office, Black’s Hardware Store and at Dr. Dan McCharles Auxilary Hospital for 24 years where she worked as a nursing aide. Her co-workers and patients at the hospital found her to be caring and compassionate with an infectious laugh that would identify her in any crowd. Leo and Muriel had a wide circle of friends and family and enjoyed entertaining, dancing, music, sports, golf and camping. In honour of Muriel’s wishes, a Private Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery. ROTH

Clarence John Roth passed away on March 27, 2018, at the age of 84 years, beloved husband of Elsa Molzan-Roth. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Brenda (Brian) Webster and Clarence Dale Roth all of Medicine Hat; two step-grandchildren Marshal (Crissy) Webster and Kristy (Lee) Webster; one sister Ann Dinsmore as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ann and John Roth; his first wife Phyllis (Nee: Holt) on May 27, 1997; one brother, Roy Roth and a brother-in-law Tom Dinsmore. Clarence began his career as an auto body technician with Hill Body Shop and later Gardner Motors. In 1973, he opened Inter-City Collision Repairs, and a short time later Inter-City Auto Glass. He built a thriving business, which assured quality repairs and service to all its customers. Clarence was known for his outgoing personality and no-nonsense approach to business, while making sure he looked after his family, employees and customers alike. He sold his business following the death of his first wife Phyllis from cancer in 1997 and entered his retirement years. In 2003, Clarence married Elsa and they moved into their home in Crescent Heights. Clarence learned to love travel, and he and Elsa visited many locales around the world. He also loved music and playing his accordions and was a member of the Medicine Hat Music Club. Clarence will also be remembered for his love of animals especially his dogs. The graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery on April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating. Katherine (Katie) Regina Stein of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Andrew Stein, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the age of 98 years. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, June (Dale) Yahn of Surrey, BC; Bev (Gordon) Ziegler of Richmound, Saskatchewan; Brian (Vianne) Stein of Calgary; Reg (Vicki) Stein of Richmound; and Keith (Karen) Stein of Medicine Hat; thirteen grandchildren, Janice Shelesny, Janine Yahn, Gordon (Suzanne) Yahn, Chris (Cynthia) Yahn, Mitch (Ginger) Ziegler, Jeff (Sandra) Ziegler, Andrea (Rich) Galvin, Jennifer Ziegler, Brett Stein, Celeste (John) Lapinskie, Logan Stein, Rylan Stein and Jayden Stein; fourteen great-grandchildren, Hudson, Kate, Stuart, Megan, Rebecca, Brennon, Chelsea, Kaylynn, Kyle, Jake, Oliver, Isaac, Carter and Georgia; one sister Angela Glasser; one brother Bill (Pat) Hepfner; three sisters-in-law Clara Stein, Rose Stein, Carol Stein and one brother-in-law Tony Stein as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Katie was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Georgina Hepfner; her husband Andrew in 2003; four sisters and their husbands, Josephine (Jerry) Feininger, Minnie (Frank) Scherger, Ann (Bill) Pocsik and Alice (Leonard) Schneider; one brother-in-law Bill Glasser, and Andrew’s brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex (Frances), Erasmus (Mona), Mike, Christian, Joe (Rose), Alf, Pat and Ann and his sisters Frances, Florentina, Amelia and Margaret. Katie was born on January 2, 1920, at the family homestead in the Fox Valley area where she was raised and attended Rose Flat School. On November 16, 1939, she married Andrew Stein and they raised their family in Richmound, operating Stein’s Grocery and participating in many community activities. They retired to Medicine Hat in 1981, where Katie continued to enjoy baking, playing cards, curling, dancing and visiting with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to reminisce about memories of the past and always had a history book handy to look up more information. She treasured her phone calls and visits from family and friends by whom she will be sadly missed. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Philip Le celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Bonnie Weiss passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018, beloved wife of Bruce Weiss of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory two children, Berri-Sue Weiss (Jon Bolton) and Brandi (Curtis) Benedict; six grandchildren, Cyanna, Ella, Luna, Jocelyn, Jada and William, and a multitude of friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Alice Becker.
