CHRISTINA "TINA" HUBBS (nee SCHNEIDER)

With love and thanks for a life well lived, Tina Hubbs passed away on February 8, 2018, at the age of 94. She is survived by her son, Don (Glenda); her daughter, Carol (Myles) Knodel; and two grandsons who she adored, Shaun and Travis. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd, in January 2005. Tina was the last remaining sibling of the Schneider and Mutschler families. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Anne Schneider, Delores Mutschler, and Lois Fairbairn; and brother-in-law, Larry Hubbs. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family and friends.
Tina was born and raised in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan and worked alongside her dad in the Post Office in Maple Creek. After marrying Lloyd in 1948, they moved to Medicine Hat, where she was employed at The Darling Dress Shop and Marika's; she was also co-owner of The Lady Fair. She was known as a sharp-dressed, classy lady. Tina was a member of the Moose, IODE, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Honorary Life Member of AMA, as well as many years at the Medicine Hat Curling Club and Elkwater Golf Course. She enjoyed stamp collecting, curling, golfing, camping, playing cards, but most of all spending time with her family. We take comfort knowing Mom and Dad have been reunited. They were the loves of each other’s lives.
To family and friends who visited her over the years, our many thanks. Our appreciation to the staff of Riverview Nursing Home for their kindness and care of Mom over the past 11 years, as well to Dr. Monty for his care and compassion. No formal service will be held in keeping with her wishes. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Flowers are graciously declined. In remembrance of Tina, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, 340A Maple Avenue SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 7L5.
Thank you, Mom and Grandma, for everything. We will love and miss you forever.

JOHN WILLIAM HUNTER

May 16, 1947 ~ February 7, 2018

It is with profound sadness that the Hunter family announces John’s passing at the age of 71 years. He valiantly battled cancer for nearly eight years, after being told he would probably live no more than two years. His stubborn nature stood him in good stead. John spent his entire adult life in service to Canada. First, having spent 32 years in the military, then 12 years as a special constable with the Medicine Hat Police Service. He was a kind and generous man who took pleasure in buying lunch for strangers. John was born in New Brunswick, the third of five children. He is survived by two brothers, Paul and David; and a sister, Mary. He is also survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne; his sons, Jason (Danielle) and Jeremy (Ang); as well as his daughter, Jill Marie (BJ) Brooks. He has five beloved grandchildren, Annette, Claire and Evelyn Hunter, and Stephen and Patrick Brooks. Awaiting him in Heaven are his parents, one brother, and a grandson, Brandon. John loved WHL hockey and was a staunch Tigers fan. Please feel free to wear your Tigers gear as it would have made him smile. Special thanks go to the Cancer Centre, Palliative Care, Home Care and We Care. The staff at St. Joseph’s Home is amazing. There will be a special spot in Heaven for all of you. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:25 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. David J. Carter officiating. Interment will take place in the Field of Honor at Redcliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in John’s memory may be made to Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation, Margery E.
