1919 ~ WANEETA RITTER ~ 2017

Waneeta Emazine Ritter (Babcock), passed away on September 18th, 2017 at the age of 98 years. Waneeta is survived by her children, Gary (Darlene) Babcock, Clifford (Sylvia) Babcock, and Heather (Alan) Sox; four grandchildren, Jennifer (John) McLeod, Landon (Amy) Sox, Angela (Corey Bailey) Campbell, Steven Babcock, and Erin Babcock; ten great-grandchildren who she loved dearly; and two sisters, Myrtle Panko and Florence Panko. Waneeta was predeceased by two husbands, Wilfred Babcock and Wilhelm Ritter; her great grandchild, Alexander Sox; and her siblings, Roy, Clifford, Vera and Elsie. The Funeral Service will be held at the Brethren in Christ Church in Kindersley, Saskatchewan on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Kindersley Cemetery. 1928 ~ REUBEN KURPJUWEIT ~ 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Reuben Harvey Kurpjuweit announces his passing in Medicine Hat on September 17, 2017 at the age of 89. Reuben was born on January 19, 1928 in Medicine Hat, the youngest child of Rudolph and Lydia Kurpjuweit. Reuben grew up on a farm in the Rosebeg area (south of Medicine Hat) with three older brothers and two older sisters, attending Little Plume School. On October 11, 1952, he married Doreen Seitz. They lived on Great Hope Ranch where they raised five children (Patty, Arvid, Merle, Cyndi and Sheldon). Reuben was a hard-working farmer/rancher and provided well for his family. To supplement the family income, he drove substitute school bus for many years. Later in life he worked for several years as the maintenance man at Hillcrest Christian College and Primrose Villa.
Reuben enjoyed golf, and participated in baseball and curling well into his senior years.
A devoted Christian, Reuben was involved at The Little Plume Evangelical Church and later at Hillcrest Evangelical Church. Reuben volunteered as Treasurer for Rancher’s Mutual Telephone Company, Treasurer for Horizon Village, volunteered at the Prairie Gleaners, drove for the food bank and was a faithful blood donor.
Following the passing of Doreen in 2013, Reuben found love again at the age of 87 and married Stella Friesen on October 10, 2015. They treasured every day, knowing they wouldn’t have many years together, and celebrated their anniversary on the 10th of each month.
Reuben is survived by his spouse, Stella Friesen of almost two years. Most of his family continues to live in Medicine Hat with a few exceptions noted – his children: Patty Drysdale, Arvid (Evonne) Kurpjuweit, Merle (Dorothy) Kurpjuweit, Cyndi (Barry) Chomick of Airdrie, Sheldon (Kelly) Kurpjuweit; his grandchildren, Aaron (Kristy) Bowal, Brady (Jasmin) Bowal, Stephanie Drysdale, Kelley (Candace) Kurpjuweit, Kurtis (Alanna) Kurpjuweit, Clark (Renate) Kurpjuweit, Jennifer (Chris) Friess, Michael (Yvonne) Kurpjuweit of Saskatoon, Lindsey (Karl) Sine of Cochrane, Christie Kurpjuweit (Chris Stevens), Alyssa (Shane) Yuhas of Toronto, Dalyce (Jesse) Stevenson of Toronto, Jesse (Jennifer) Chomick of Airdrie, Robin (Kirsty) Kurpjuweit, Sara (Haris) Softic, and Chelsey (Aaron) Welwood as well as 40 great-grandchildren (and counting). He is also survived by the Friesen family – children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by his sister, Luella Kowalsky of Castor; as well numerous nieces and nephews.
Reuben was predeceased by his first wife, Doreen; his parents, Rudolph and Lydia Kurpjuweit; and his brothers/sisters-in-law, Herman/Olga Kurpjuweit, Norman/Martha Kurpjuweit, Edward/Martha Kurpjuweit, Agnes/Samuel Meier and Edward (Bud) Kowalsky.

Erna Wanda Jacober (nee Kleis), beloved wife of Harold Jacober of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, September 18th, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Erna also leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Darrell (Anne) Jacober of Medicine Hat and Bradley (Barb) Jacober of Vernon, BC; four grandchildren (loves of her life), Lance (Darnyll) Jacober, Melissa Jacober (Landon Deelstra), Ashlee (Andrew) Dunham and Cindee (Terry) Hamilton; three great grandchildren, Jake Hamilton, Ethan Nitz-Jacober and Liam Dunham; two brothers, John (Lorna) Kleis and Bert (Evelyn) Kleis; two sisters, Audrey (Gordon) Newman and Lorraine Mayer; one brother-in-law, Elmer (Julia) Jacober; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Boettcher and Marge Jacober; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many good friends. Erna was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Adelia Kleis; one brother, Edward Kleis; two sisters, Gertrude Kleis and Berta Bierback; her mother and father-in-law, Julius and Bertha Jacober; three brothers-in-law, Sam Bierback, Wilbur Boettcher, and Ruben Jacober; and two sisters-in-law, Penny Jacober and Joan Kleis. Erna was born in Medicine Hat on March 12th, 1935 where she was raised and educated. She married Harold H. Jacober on October 2nd, 1954. Before and after her marriage Erna began her employment as a sales clerk with Raber's, the Darling Dress Shop and the Betty Shoppe. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and reading. Family and friends were very important to Erna. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she always tried to be fair to them all. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Wong and his staff for the wonderful care Mom received over the years. We are also grateful to the staff on 6th West who treated Mom up until her passing. Your dedication was so appreciated. It was Erna's request that there be no viewing before cremation. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Gordon James Lesmeister on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at the age of 62 years. Gordon was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan on March 31st, 1955. He was predeceased by his father, Leonard in 1980. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 42 years, Norma; their sons, Jason (Annette) and their children Ben and Quinn, and Mike (Krista) and their children Danielle, Reid and Brianna. Gordon is also survived by his mother, Rose; his brothers, Brian, Lionel, Ken, Neil, Bob, and Ivan; his sisters, Audrey and Rosalie; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordon was an avid sports fan, most notably watching his Montreal Canadiens, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Dallas Cowboys. He also looked forward to Saturday afternoons watching college football. Mr. Brian Thomas Pearce, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the age of 84 years. Brian leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Nola, and their sons, Darwin (Sherri-Lynn) Pearce, Bob (Jeanette) Macaulay and Bruce (Jocelyn) Macaulay and daughter, Gloria Grossman; seven wonderful grandchildren that he loved dearly, Ty, Téa, Joel, Jodie, Chandra, Craig and Marla; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob and Donald Pearce as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ellen Pearce; sisters, Mary Walsh and Kathleen Krassman and brothers, Norman and Billy Pearce. Brian was a proud servant to the public and dedicated 35 years to policing with over 32 years as a proud member of the Medicine Hat Police Service, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1987.
